So I've had in my possession for some time an old dressmaker's pattern book that, I think, used to belong to someone in my grandmother's family. It's lost its cover and binding some time ago, so I don't know what year it is nor what the title/publisher is, but it is definitely old enough to be out of copyright.

About a decade back, I Xeroxed it and had it bound into a book for myself, but it does occur to me that there may be some people out there who might be interested in owning their own copy. It'd be a few weeks or months from now that I'd be able to start scanning (after the move, in other words!), but I'm toying with the idea of putting it up on Lulu.com so people could buy an ebook or print version of it. Of interest to historical costumers and possibly steampunks.

A couple of quick iPhone snaps of two pages (the first page and page 6) to give a brief idea of what's in it:

So...a poll! There's no "no" option because if you're not interested in buying it, there's no point in you telling me that. :)

If you might buy it, and each number from 1 to 20 is a U.S. dollar value, what is the top amount you'd pay for an ebook version of this book?

Tell me something that made you happy recently!

...that allows you to pick and choose among character/costume elements: here. Form does not work yet, as I'm just in the process of building it and ignoring the bits yet to come that involve working out the SQL commands for all the options. :D And yes, I AM INSANE and using checkboxes to allow you to choose multiple thingys per element, and not radio buttons which would force you to pick one and only one choice. Which would be easier on me but in all honesty would drive you guys nuts to have to fill out the entire damn form AGAIN to check for characters with, say, both pink and purple hair. You'll also be able to pick multiple series if you want to limit your search to just some of the series in the database, but I haven't got round to adding that little bit of code to that section yet.

woo!

There's now 43 characters in the cosplay database. (Usual disclaimers apply: the photos are all hotlinked at the moment, so may not show up properly, and I'm working on making the results pretty later.)

Thanks to all who are entering them in!

No, I'm not cosplaying. :) This is the Seekrit Project I mentioned the other day: I'm starting to create a database of characters to cosplay as, with a list of characteristics in stupidly fine detail, that I can use to feed into a quiz/form that people can fill out to get back a list of suggestions of character to cosplay as. Woo, aren't you excited?

Anyway, I now need your help to feed data into it! details under cut )

Dumped into my Flickr account, because if I upload them individually and post them here I'll never get them all posted. Have at it!

...as that's about all I'm up for right now. Quality only OK, as again I ran these through a batch image processor instead of doing them individually. A couple here and there I adjusted manually when the thing I wanted you to look at was completely hidden in darkness, but most I left alone.

The wanted poster worked! Soon I shall be returning Sanzo's lost property! :D

...back right after A-Kon when I posted the lost prop poster for the Sanzo who left the prop at my table? And I said "Please distribute"? I was actually sort of hoping that some of you would distribute it. Extensive as my f-list is, I know there's not much of a chance that you guys know everyone in con-attending fandom, but there's a bit larger chance that you know people who know people. If you get my meaning. :) I'd really like to get this prop back to the person who owns it, and there's not a whole lot more that I can, or have the time and energy to, do.

Thanks!

Dude, I got tons of these. This'll entertain us all for a while. :D

As promised, the L feeding frenzy! )
