meganbmoore gets points for correctly inferring that the disguise was, indeed, a shirt.) He did not appear in costume at all for the entire con, probably in response to being traumatized by fangirls at A-Kon.

(Which brings to mind the question of why people - not the poeple in the picture, I hasten to add - are CONSTANTLY informing me of A Certain Spoiler that happened semi-recently in the not-yet-translated manga. Does it not occur to these people that not all of us are reading the scanlations of every single series we follow? And it's not that they're gleefully spoiling me, it's just that they mention it in conversation: "Yeah, about the time that [spoiler occurred] blah blah blah blah." Everyone has been saved from being thrashed soundly by an enraged

telophase solely because I accidentally ran across it somewhere else first.)

Friday or Saturday night, in the plaza right outside the bar, Ganju, bankai Ikkaku, and someone I'm not entirely sure of but who is probably Nanao (Matsumoto doesn't wear her lieutenant's badge on her arm, but on her belt I CAN'T BELIEVE I KNOW THAT), pose for us.

The Saturday evening part of the cosplay: the walk-ons. Since there was no band this year, they did walk-ons Saturday night and skits Sunday night.

Knowing People On Staff [tm] means you get better seats than most. :D This is the line for the stage, featuring the Prince from Katamari Damacy - the green fellow with the baby.

This year judging the cosplay was SO hard. After we prejudged the first 26 entries and we realized we have over 50 to prejudge I looked at my fellow judges and said, "We are so boned." Not because the costumes were bad but because they were so good. I wanted to give everyone a prize but sadly we cut them down to eight. I was so hoping you had some pictures of the winners so I could post them on my lj.

Sorry, while I had a good seat up in the balcony, my better camera is down for the count. But I know the A/V people at AFest got some, because

puppleball was using my lenses and was in the balcony two behind me, which had a better view.

The woman is the Hellsing pic is Rip van Winkle, not Integra. And the Nazi catboy is Schrödinger. (Con crud, I know, I know, but I'm all pedantic today for some reason. Sorry. :D)

That bankai Ikkaku is awesome but insane; I wonder if he accidentally clobbered any people/displays?

Wow, there's a Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere! And, omg, the Prince--is the baby he's holding supposed to be his Katamari?

This would be why I list off every manga I follow in scanslations in my profile. Not that it works.

The Gintama characters are Hijikata and Okita Souji. I know this despite not yet reading the manga due to calixa's brainwashing techniques.

Shirtless Tattoo Renji's disguise is quite good, though the hair is still a giveaway.

I kept wanting to talk to Shirtless Tattooed Renji and mention that we thought he was rather harried by the fangirl attention, but the opportunity never came up since he never came by my table, and following him to tell him that was waaaaaaay too stalkery for me. XD

One of my friends was in the Artist's Alley there as well, and she mentioned that costume to me but had no pics. It's even cuter to actually see it! *wibbles*

(If you saw somebody with lots of prints of ghost/spirit-ish things with no mouth, that was her.)

(I didn't get much of a chance to look around the AA, although that was partially deliberate, as I had NO MONEY, so I didn't see her. :()
