MORE AI ART

But NOT Artbreeder this time! Thanks to Metafilter, I ran across this article on AI-generated art that had links to several Google Colab notebooks I could run to generate art.

What is a Google Colab? Uh, hell if I know, even though I was using one to do all the AI-generated text a couple of years back. But you can set it up to run programs and use computer power elsewhere for it, and people have kindly set them up with software that runs the AI-generated art. I shall not explain how they work otherwise because it would mostly be "Click this, this, and this, then type here, then click there."

You type in prompts, and it does its best to produce something using hat it thinks the prompts say. It is not a human, so quite often it has nothing to do with reality. There are a few tricks you can use to pull better stuff out of it, and since it was trained on internet data two of those tricks are to add "artstation" (or "trending on artstation") and "unreal engine" to your prompt.

And it has produced some AWESOME results! )

Continuing to add words and patterns to the elevator pitch / blurb generator, also fixing typos.

Reminiscent of early Dan Brown.

This debut series is best described as a combination of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Fury Road, as written by Aliette de Bodard.

Like The Expanse, but with extra maps

This might be the fastest concept-to-finish generator I've ever done, but the Elevator Pitch / Blurb Generator is done and live!

I was reading a book announcement on tor.com that described a book as being in the vein of two books that were as utterly unlike each other as...as...two unlike things. Naturally, I had to make a generator.

So! If you are a writer who needs inspiration, a publicist who is writing a press release, or an author who's been asked to blurb a book and you're lost for words...here you go! It tends to float between things that sound legitimate and things that take a left turn through WTF.

Do feel free to link away!

This debut work of fiction is best described as a combination of Aliens and Psycho, as written by Beatrix Potter.

A queer, ambitious page-turner, this series is what you'd get if Pamela Dean wrote Ice Planet Barbarians.

I'd linked to the Improved Zoe Chant Shifter Romance Generator elsewhere today, so was hitting the "Write the sequel!" button a few times and came up with:
The King Of A Small European Country Tyrannosaurus Rex's Curvy Werewolf

One BBW werewolf + one tyrannosaurus rex shifter king of a small European country sworn to protect her with his life + a world trying to tear these fated mates apart with secrets to hide = one orgasmic romance that will be sure to make a wave!
I can't help but think that the thing trying to tear them apart is Chicxulub...

(Also I'd forgotten I put "King of a Small European Country" in there. XD)

Random generator

And here it is, the generator I've been teasing for a week...the Epic Fantasy Random Title Generator. Have fun!

A Risen Rebel (Anthology of First Gardens #5)
Empire of Merchants
The Thorn Kings (The Deathless Avatar 4)
The Dale of Dead Maelstroms
Night of Fury (Fallow Isles 2)
The Bitter Apprentice
Iron in the Harrowed House (Duo of Heavenly Marshals #5)

I think the main way I can tell I got pretty close to the general realm of epic fantasy titles is that none of them are especially funny. I suppose they're all grimdark, hm? (After noticing that "Fish" drastically improved any title it appeared in, I seeded the noun list with 4 other words designed to produce a bit of humor occasionally, so there's a bit of lightness.)

New generator!

And now, officially live...the Four-Trope Random Romance Plot Generator!

A mail-order bride and a genetically engineered man meet on the wrong side of the tracks because of a mysterious benefactor!

A Navy SEAL and an outlaw team up as a result of time travel and the story contains lots of hurt/comfort!

A businesswoman teams up with a special agent when they are forced to share a bed in ancient Rome!

A cowgirl teams up with an Army Ranger because of friends or family conniving to get them together during an alien abduction!

A quirky heroine and an introverted hero find each other for a one night stand in Venice!
(ok, this one sounds like the plot of a Manic Pixie Dream Girl movie, or a novel written by a middle-aged male professor starring a middle-aged male professor.)

A widow and an assassin team up in this secret baby romance in the American West!

Virtual random sandwich party, anyone?

[personal profile] myrialux and I were kicking around the idea of a virtual random sandwich party. Essentially, whoever wants to participate picks a random sandwich from the generator, tries it, writes it up, and on an agreed-upon date (if there's only a couple of us) or week (if there's more), posts the writeup.

(I also figure given the chances, in many areas, of ingredients being substituted in deliveries, or unavailable at the store, that would simply be another random element that goes into the sandwich.)

I think if I did it I'd probably pick one that sounds really good, and one that sounds...less so, then make and try both. But nobody else has to unless they're game.

If you think you'd be interested, let me know in the comments. And feel free to pass it on to anyone you think might be interested.

btw...so far this is the best sandwich I've gotten from the random sandwich generator yet.
Your sandwich contains chicken salad, cornichons, roasted red peppers and butter lettuce on five-grain bread. Enjoy!

Playing around with my random sandwich generator out of boredom*...

The server places before you a sandwich made with pumpernickel, on which you see roast pork loin, paté, hot pepper relish, applesauce, green leaf lettuce and flake salt.

This one strikes me as what happens when a white person tries to make a banh mí. But probably kind of tasty nonetheless.

Fried tofu, marinara sauce, purslane and garlic salt on rice bread? Sounds great!

Actually, it kinda does.

The server places before you a sandwich made with a hoagie roll, on which you see ham steak, a schmear, rice vinegar, daikon radish and dandelion greens.

I'd be optimistic about this one, as one of my favorite sandwiches is this, taught me by a friend way back shortly after I graduated college. Take pumpernickel bread and spread cream cheese on one slice, and Dijon or other spicy mustard on the other. Get good ham, not thin deli slices, but spiral cut or something that doesn't have that weird waterlogged texture, sandwich it between the two slices of bread, and eat.

Your sandwich is salami, grainy mustard, a pinch of brown sugar and cilantro on a French roll.

I'd try that.

You see egg salad, sliced horseradish, marshmallow fluff and bonito on rice bread. Looks tasty!

Mmmaybe not so much.

* and also taking the opportunity to add another link to it so the intarwebs picks it up...

HOW HUNGRY ARE YOU?!

Random sandwich generator LIVE!

http://magatsu.net/generators/sandwiches/

Inspired by Tyler Kord's A Super Upsetting Cookbook About Sandwiches, in which he lists several elements of taste and texture that he thinks all sandwiches should have. My list is a bit different than his, but I think it still produces some decent sandwiches. And some not-so-decent ones, but the proportion of ones I'd try is surprisingly high. (Except for the ones that end up with Nutella or marshmallow fluff. I've yet to see one of those that work for me.)

I've received one before that basically reinvented pizza, which leads to the eternal question: is pizza an open-faced sandwich? What about when you fold it? I'm not even going to bring up tacos or PopTarts...

New generator!

But I can't tell you what it is because it's exclusive to my Patreon supporters for the next couple of days. :)

But I also made a new Twitter bot! It tweets a randomly generated title once an hour. At the moment it picks from fantasy, military SF, or YA contemporary. [twitter.com profile] titles_bot

It tweets at roughly the same time as the randomly generated prompts bot ([twitter.com profile] RandomPrompts), which means that the tweets usually show up next to each other in my timeline. And it often seems that they collude...

The Eventful Life and Brief Death of Murderface McKenzie.

Like a lot of people, I saw AI Weirdness' post today on a new(ish) AI-generated text adventure game.

Therefore I immediately sent Murderface McKenzie on an adventure. It's no more weird and bizarre than his life usually is, I suspect.

(context for those who are new to this DW: Murderface McKenzie is my not-very-intelligent and super-clumsy Skyrim character. I have many writeups in and amongst my "Skyrim" tag.

Cut for text of game. 2484 words. )
