Playing around with my random sandwich generator out of boredom*...
The server places before you a sandwich made with pumpernickel, on which you see roast pork loin, paté, hot pepper relish, applesauce, green leaf lettuce and flake salt.
This one strikes me as what happens when a white person tries to make a banh mí. But probably kind of tasty nonetheless.
Fried tofu, marinara sauce, purslane and garlic salt on rice bread? Sounds great!
Actually, it kinda does.
The server places before you a sandwich made with a hoagie roll, on which you see ham steak, a schmear, rice vinegar, daikon radish and dandelion greens.
I'd be optimistic about this one, as one of my favorite sandwiches is this, taught me by a friend way back shortly after I graduated college. Take pumpernickel bread and spread cream cheese on one slice, and Dijon or other spicy mustard on the other. Get good ham, not thin deli slices, but spiral cut or something that doesn't have that weird waterlogged texture, sandwich it between the two slices of bread, and eat.
Your sandwich is salami, grainy mustard, a pinch of brown sugar and cilantro on a French roll.
I'd try that.
You see egg salad, sliced horseradish, marshmallow fluff and bonito on rice bread. Looks tasty!
Mmmaybe not so much.

Yesterday, I thought that it could be done two other ways:
(a) virtually, via Zoom--everyone picks a sandwich, shows up, tries their sandwich, and tells the others about it
(b) as a blog/social media thing: everyone picks a sandwich, tries it, and then on a specific day or days, posts about it.
