Via [livejournal.com profile] fuchsoid again, via Neil Gaiman's blog which means that most of you ahve probably seen it already, the Helsinki Complaints Choir.

At The World is Not Flat, the blog of two people traveling around the world, they muse on the sad and sometimes beautiful state of European graffiti.

After writing the next column for Tokyopop, I watched episode 1 of Shounen Onmyouji, because I am still in my love-for-Heian-Japan phase and there is nothing better than Heian Japan with onmyouji and monsters and such. I enjoyed it - nothing to make me run out and pimp it to everyone I know, but I'll keep watching. I've got the first episode of two other historical-ish anime downloaded, the ones that [livejournal.com profile] greenapple2004 refers to as "Tenpo Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi & Bakumatsu blah blah Iroha whatever-" in her list of anime she's been watching. Will watch them at some point.

I also didn't watch Heroes on Monday because I couldn't stand to sit down and watch a show for an hour. Was planning on catching the rebroadcast Sunday, but after seeing the vague squees on the friendslist, I might download it sooner.

Back when I was in highschool, I drove a lemon. It was an Oldsmobile Omega, which had had many, many problems from the start. To the extent that they ended up rebuilding the engine before it got out of warranty. Of the many things on it - I learned to replace fuses on the thing, and also how to determine what of a certain set of things was currently going wrong by which smell was coming out of the AC vents - the most intriguing was the next-to-last thing that went wrong. The last thing that went wrong was the frame breaking, the same week we got this mysterious thing fixed, after which we sold it and got me a Honda CRX, because Dad swore never to buy anything other than Japanese again.

At any rate, after talking about it on another LJ today, I figured I'd throw the symptoms up here and see if any of you can guess anywhere near what the actual problem was. :D

Symptom: When I accelerated from a red light or a stop sign, the windshield wipers would wipe once.

Have at it! I'll post the solution ... eventually. :) (If you read about it on [livejournal.com profile] pzb's LJ, don't give it away. :D)

In the mood to read ficlets and drabbles, the very short-short stuff. Rec them and pimp them! Go!

SeriesI'm familiar enough with to get fic: Saiyuki, as if you didn't know, Naruto, Death Note, Princess Tutu, Bleach (English releases only), FMA, Samurai Champloo, most of Miyazaki, Fruits Basket (English releases only), xxxHolic (English releases), Clover, The Tale of Genji (well, maybe it'll inspire some of you XD), Project Blue Rose (ditto). Inquire about others, I'm sure there's some. :)

Toby got the underwater cameras developed and sent me the pictures I'd taken during our stingray swim. I'm fairly impressed, for a disposable camera. A bit of levels adjustment in Photoshop, and they came out pretty nice.

Under here for a few of the pictures! )

...to the car question I posed earlier today.

Symptom: When I accelerated from a stop sign or a red light, my wiper blades would wipe the windshield once.

And the answer is... )
