Still here.

Just not wanting to post a lot. Not for any particular reason, it's just that everything happening is either (a) exchanges that aren't public yet so I can't talk about the art I've done for them, or (b) boring stuff like cleaning out the closets and swapping them between my (new) office and the (new) spare bedroom.

I also was going to post some cat photos, but my phone was balking at mailing them to myself, so STYMIED.

I did spend this weekend and parts of this week re-organizing my office so that things actually have places. I read an organizing book via Kindle Unlimited (because even if I don't take any advice from such a book, it spurs me to get up and do some re-organizing), and the one bit of advice I have taken from it is, when trying to figure out where something should live, to ask myself "When I'm looking for this item, where is the first place I look for it?" Such an obvious question when you think about it! (I read an ADHD-friendly organizing book a decade ago that pointed out if you're leaving projects in progress out in places, then find or create a place to store it next to those places which was another "Oh, duh!" moment for me.)

I also created a year-at-a-glance calendar on the backside of the folding table on a storage unit that serves as my crafting/whatever table. That meant we had to paint the underside of the table to give the repositionable whiteboard sheet we bought something to cling to that wasn't bare plywood. And then I drew out 12 columns and 31 rows with dry-erase markers and filled it all in with weekends and everything before pulling back, looking at it, looking at the washi tape storage box next to it and thinking "Fuck I should have used tape to mark it out." So the next day I did that. Now we just need to find some 2"x2" post-it notes since my little post-it flags aren't big enough to see from my desk, and being able to see them from my desk is an important part of my process.

Art!

Oh, hey, reveals have happened on one of the exchanges I'm in, so I can at least post one work. This was for the It's All in the Name exchange, where you basically requested a fandom, characters, and one or more titles from a nominated list, no other prompts (besides a DNW list) and your creator picked one of the titles to inspire the work.

I got matched on "original work->faceless drowned goddess," and chose "across the homeless sea" from the list of potential titles given to me.

across the homeless sea (4 words) by Irusu
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Original Work

Characters: Solo: Faceless Drowned God(dess) - Character

Landlubbers shudder and turn away when they see the cracked, weathered figurehead on the prow of a ship. Sailors know better, and throw her a kiss as they pass by. When you're sinking into the darkness and the cold, the most beautiful sight in the world is that of the face of She who comes for you...

And I got TWO stories in return! One Mass Effect->Grunt, one Original Works->librarian in an uncanny library. The Mass Effect requires canon knowledge, but the other is self-contained.

And because no posts for days and days means I make multiple posts in one day, what I forgot to mention in my larger State of the Telophase post earlier is that we have discovered Sora, our older, special snowflake of a cat, does not like to pee in the dark.

He also does not like to pee where there are less than two exits, so he has trained us to put his litterbox in the jack-and-jill bathroom because he can make a quick exit one way or the other at need. He also periodically pees on the floor in the bathroom off the main bedroom when he's disgruntled about something*, and we have driven ourselves up several walls trying to figure out what's he's annoyed about this time each time he does it. Last week, after another spate of nightly floor-pees, I realized that the jack-and-jill bathroom is the darkest part of the house at night, and we didn't have a nightlight in it.**

It also has no outlets, but there's a light over the bathtub, so we turned that on last week and left it on ever since...

...and Sora has not once peed on the floor in our bathroom since. So he doesn't like the dark. Hm.

* he periodically gets crystals in his urine--not for years now, yay--but his inappropriate elimination follows vastly different patterns when he's having a flare, so we're confident it's not this, this time.

** I am of the DARK IT MUST ALL BE DAAARK AT NIGHT persuasion. [personal profile] myrialux is of the WE MUST BE ABLE TO SEE WHEN WALKING AROUND AT NIGHT persuasion and as such we have an eclectic collection of nightlights here and there, none of which illuminate enough to not have to use your phone at night when stumbling around, so [personal profile] myrialux and I are equally annoyed about the nighttime lighting situation.

The freaking Doomslayer can’t punch under water? What kind of bullshit isthis shit?

Oh, this isn’t going to be a fight at all. Well, it’s Doom; it’s always a fight.

Let’s make this personal!

Oh good. I’ve been saving this for you. Oh, you have a buddy.

I had one shot left in that cannon when I killed that second one. Haha!

And my parents were worried about Mortal Kombat.
