I am very positive about my chances of being able to buy knockoff grain-sack-style throw pillows for cheap soon: I saw padded footstools with grain-sack-type covers in Target today. They didn't have any throw pillows in the same style, but can they be far behind?

Just got back from running around. I finally broke down and had a thingy installed in my car which allows me to plug in the iPhone and play it through the radio WITHOUT the interference that I normally get when using the plug-in thingy that plays it through the radio (because the stations in town bleed all over the *&^*^ spectrum). It cost $150 including installation, but considering that the plug-in variety costs half that, plus doesn't work very well and ends up with the wires breaking after a year of heavy use, since I plug my iPhone in to listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks every time I'm in the car, and really, it's way more cost-effective.

Anyway, so we left my car to be worked on and went to Lowe's for a few things and to take another look at the rugs, and ended up with the one pictures below. It claims to be a Persian design, and was made in India, and it looks sort of pre-faded, like it's seen some use, which I rather like. :D

Works much better than the round one - I couldn't tell you explicitly why I didn't like the round one, but there was sort of a tension whenever I looked at it that isn't there when I look at this one.

Seen for a short time on the brick fence behind our house from the bathroom window. He was also in shadow, so it was hard to tell if colors were brown or grey, for instance.

Dark back, very leggy, barred tail - dark tail with horizontal dark bars on it. Breast white and brown - looked like brown, er not stripes, but vertical brown feathers or streaky-type marks (I should learn this bird terminology!). Beak looked kind of like it had a dark tip on it.

It was a kind of hawk-like, falcon-like thing. And now that I've gotten all I remember written down, off to the intertubes to search for possible identifications!

ETA: Breast like the ones the merlins are showing, but a tail more like a Cooper's hawk. I'm leaning towards a juvenile Cooper's for now.
