... anyone out there really gives a damn about knowing how I figured out that the Saiyuki pic in the marker book was done on marker paper (you can use a lot of different papers with them, so it's not as obvious an answer as it looks to be), this is why:

This is NOT the Gojyo pic. It's not even a picture that I drew - I wanted to try out the markers on the small marker paper that I had, and instead of wasting time drawing something, I traced a panel from Hikaru no Go and colored that.

This is a mixed media technique - you lay down a base of watercolor pencil, then marker over it. The scanner emphasizes the blotchiness - it's not as obvious in the original.

I have a feeling I'm gong to be never so glad for a thunderstorm in my life.

My apartment complex is supposed to be having a pool party tonight and unfortunately my apartment is right next to the pool. Did I mention the LIVE BAND? I certainly forgot about that until I heard them starting to warm up.

At any rate, however, there's a thunderstorm fast blowing up and I saw an impressive bit of lightning just now, so with any luck they'll move the band inside the apartment office soon so I don't have the FULL FORCE of the instruments.

... Although I'm not entirely sure that's going to happen: there's now thunder AND loud drums and bass going. Are these people TOTAL FUCKING IDIOTS? THUNDERSTORM. WATER. ELECTRICITY.
telophase: (Mello - bite my ass)
On my way out of the apartment complex to go gas the car, buy more cat food, poke around Half-Price Books, eat at IHOP and do all that in as inefficient a manner as possible so as to thoroughly avoid the LIVE BAND playing directly outside my apartment, I went by the mailboxes and ... my BPAL imps have arrived!

I am a bit skeptical of my ability to give good reviews because (a) I can't really identify separate notes and (b) I am perpetually half-stuffed-up from allergies. But I shall try.

I would like, however, to note that someone at BPAL has a sense of humor: they noticed that every single thing I ordered has at least one food-related thing in its description and the extra imp they threw in? Gluttony.

Why they all have food-related things in them, I'm not sure. Perhaps I was hungry when I ordered them.

I will note that they made one mistake - I'm pretty sure I ordered Kathmandu but they gave me Katharina. Easy mistake to make, the Katharina description doesn't put me off, and I'll just put Kathmandu on the next order. More because I've always had a thing for Kathmandu the city than because the description sounds like I love it. XD

Poll time! )
telophase: (Kougaiji - something smells)
Despite my misgivings in the last post, I was able to separate out the notes more-or-less, and also my allergies didn't stop me from being able to smell it, even though they tried. XD

On to the review )

I really need some sort of BPAL icon. Not sure if I cna find an appropriate Saiyuki image... Hah. Found one in Salty Dog III. *uses*
