BPAL - quick thought

On my way out of the apartment complex to go gas the car, buy more cat food, poke around Half-Price Books, eat at IHOP and do all that in as inefficient a manner as possible so as to thoroughly avoid the LIVE BAND playing directly outside my apartment, I went by the mailboxes and ... my BPAL imps have arrived!

I am a bit skeptical of my ability to give good reviews because (a) I can't really identify separate notes and (b) I am perpetually half-stuffed-up from allergies. But I shall try.

I would like, however, to note that someone at BPAL has a sense of humor: they noticed that every single thing I ordered has at least one food-related thing in its description and the extra imp they threw in? Gluttony.

Why they all have food-related things in them, I'm not sure. Perhaps I was hungry when I ordered them.

I will note that they made one mistake - I'm pretty sure I ordered Kathmandu but they gave me Katharina. Easy mistake to make, the Katharina description doesn't put me off, and I'll just put Kathmandu on the next order. More because I've always had a thing for Kathmandu the city than because the description sounds like I love it. XD

I got Neo-Tokyo in my order and hated it, actually had to go wash it off. Too perfume-y for me. Jack's on the short list for my next order though. (Short list is a lie, it's quite long. XD)

I noticed that after I placed the order, everyone that I ran across who'd tried Neo-Tokyo hated it. Heh.

Ended up trying Jack first - couldn't decide which one to pick, then closed my eyes and picked that way. Will post about it a bit later.

I've pondered whether or not to order something from BPAL, if only because of their neat stories and categorization. I'm picky about smells, though, so I guess I'll have to wait until they invent the NetSmell(TM) plug-in. XD

The good thing about it is the imps - I don't really wear perfumes, but I like smelling them, so I don't need to buy a big bottle of something I don't like that much. :) And once you get some imps, you can start trading around with people. It's more of a social phenomenon than a smell.

But the descriptions are so great. XD

Ah. I knew that it had to have some sort of cult following because of the many times I've heard of it, but I never realized that.

And yes. If they had a store, I'd be stuck in there all day. XD It'd be like walking into one of those candle shops in the mall. :3

HELLCAT IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I am almost never without it. A day without Hellcat is like a day without sunshine :)

I had to get rid of my 5ml of Hellcat, because it was just too rich and boozy to wear every day. ^_^

Didn't like Jack - too synthetic for my tastes, but that was the first formulation. I haven't tried the second.

Didn't like Neo-Tokyo. It just didn't have any of the "edge" I was expecting. I think I was thinking it would be more like Ultra-Violet.

Do like Katharina. It's sweet and light and really nice for summer.
