A talk by Jared Diamond on the natural history of becoming rich, which is mostly concerned with social organization in terms of productivity: why did China, which was the technological leader of the world at the time of the Renaissance, fall behind Europe at the time? Why do small, isolated societies lose technologies? And so on.

(Diamond is the author of Guns, Germs, and Steel, Collapse, and The Third Chimpanzee, all well worth reading.)

The Lab is breaking with the usual tradition of having this month's Lunacy available for just 24 hours, and Dragon Moon is up now through the 20th (due to Convergence, most likely). I gotta say I'm tempted ... even though dragon's blood doesn't work on me, every single other component does. *sigh*

There's a number of other interesting scents up as well this month, and I've got a Paypal balance burning a hole in my pocket. Good thing I sold those Maelstrom decants, huh? XD

ETA: If you missed the Carnaval Noir LE scents last year, they're back for a limited time, until the 20th.

Ganked this version of the character-question meme from [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon

1) Make a list of 15 characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment. (That way you're not leading the questions asked to fit the characters.)

2) Ask your flist to post questions in the comments.

For example:

"4, 6, 12 & 15 are starting a band together, what is their name and what kind of music do they play? Also, who's the lead singer, and what instruments do the others play?"

3) After your flist has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the 15 characters you selected beforehand, and then post them.

------------

Of course Sanzo is on my list. Sanzo is always the answer. But you don't know where on my list he is. :D
