If L (3) and Edward Elric (7) moved in together, it would be as roommates, I think, because I think both of them are too driven and too socially inept to really be able to interact with another person on that sort of level. How would they get along? L would respect Ed's intelligence as being better than average, but would be able to manipulate Ed easily. Ed would be able to hold his own intellectually only because L is unfamiliar with alchemy and Ed's world.
Ed and L would beat each other up a lot.
Ed probably moved in because he thinks that L knows something about the Philosopher's Stone [pre-series end - post-series (highlight for series and movie spoilers) he thinks L would be able to figure out how to get both himself and his brother back to their world. L would think they have something to do with some strange happenings and propose rooming together in order to watch Ed closely to figure out what this 'alchemy' stuff is all about.].

L would set it up as a front for something-or-other, Gojyo would be the charming front man, and Goku would be the one that keeps eating the stock so they have to do more and more hilarious and impractical things in order not to lose money. THESE JUST WRITE THEMSELVES!

Naruto (9) gives Mello (2) a gift. Er. Good question. If we go by Naruto canon, he gives Mello the gift of self-acceptance and friendship, but somehow I don't see Mello accepting it, except to use him.
1 is going to a con. Does he or she cosplay as 13?
Alphonse Elric (1) cosplaying as Manji (13)? Not in an unmodified costume - Manji's kimono has a swastika (manji) on its back, and Al is too sweet to want to wear a swastika around. I could see Ed doing it, and getting in lots of fights, but Al wouldn't want to offend anyone.

Sanzo (14) fails to kill Hakkai (11) all the fucking time because Hakkai just sits there and smiles at him in that goddamn nice way and it irritates the hell out of Sanzo, but if he killed Hakkai, then it would mean that he would be stuck with the monkey and the goddamn kappa all by himself and that is just completely unacceptable.
Numbers five, seven, nine, and twelve are living together in a big house and will only get free rent if they can make another number into a beautiful and sophisticated person. which number would be the hardest to make this happen to (excluding sanzo).
Goku (5), Edward Elric (7), Naruto (9), and Qwan (12) are the four youngest, least mature guys in the bunch. They would find it almost impossible to make anyone into a beautiful and sophisticated person, but I think the absolute hardest would be Manji (130>, because ... it's Manji.

Mello demands Genocide by Chocolate. L has a full English cream tea with lots of little finger sandwiches and cakes. The maitre-d', waitstaff, and chef fall in love with Genji and keep sending tidbits of their specialties out, topped with truffles and caviar.
The owner of the restaurant sees that it's Genji, and waives the bill. Because it's Genji.

They're not reading anything because they couldn't agree. Alphonse Elric (1) is reading A Brief History of Time, while Mello (2) opted for Machiavelli. Genji is reading his own poetry and letters from former lovers, Gojyo is reading over the shoulder of the blonde next to him, Qwan is reading the Scrolls of Heaven and Earth*, and Manji is probably reading porn online.
*(I've forgotten the exact name of them, and am not willing to look them up right now.)

Naruto (9) would probably fall off a roof or bang into a tree or something. Qwan (12) wouldn't try to stop it because he doens't really understand compassion or that Naruto wans't intentionally doing it. Mello (2) would laugh his ass off, because he engineered the whole thing.

Hakkai (11) and Mello (2) could work together - Mello can work with someone as long as he sees clear benefit for himself in it. If Goku's limiter came off, Hakkai would monster out and take care of him while Mello strategized rings around Naruto and Ed.

Sanzo (14), Iruka (15), and Near (10) are competing in a Jeopardy! episode hosted by the Ninth Doctor (6). When he poses the Final Jeopardy question, Sanzo doesn't bother to listen to the question, instead cleaning out his ear. Iruka is embarrased by the answer and can barely bring himself to write it on his monitor. Near wins easily, with no change in expression. Sanzo's final score is $0, because he didn't bother to answer any question. Iruka's final score is $750, because he was able to ring in faster than Near on a few questions, and conservatively bet half of the $500 he had going into Final Jeopardy. Near's final score is $31,000, because he managed to correctly answer every question that he rang in faster than Iruka on, got all the Daily Doubles, and then bet all of the $15,500 he had going into FInal Jeopardy.
The reason the Doctor hosted was that the only way to keep Near's staff from infiltrating the Jeopardy offices and stealing all the answers ahead of time was to store all of the questions and answers 500 years in the future on the TARDIS.

Alphonse Elric (1) would teach alchemy. :) Edward Elric (12) would get detention the most, just because. Genji (4) would be perfect, of course, but perfection is, at heart, boring, and so he wouldn't be a favorite pupil. Qwan (7) is thirsty for knowledge, and very good at learning things, and gives his all in whatever he does, and would be a clear favorite.

Hakkai plays Marx, because Goku is incapable of really understanding the intricacies of Marxism. Al is saved, because Goku and Hakkai eventually tag-team Ed and administer a righteous beating.

And then the world shudders in fear.

I have a question. By Genji -- from your response, I assume you mean Murasaki Shikabu's original Tale of Genji, but I had to wonder for a bit if you meant Kouga Yun's "Genji". Are you familiar with it?
