Of heads and helicopters

4.5 pages of inking yesterday, and I have zero enthusiasm today. Figures. Anyway, in four hours of occasionally poking at the page, I have managed to produce the head of Rivas from a rather difficult angle, and I wanted to admire it in isolation before I screw it up by putting a body on it.

It's not perfect, but for the most part, I'm pretty satisfied.

And then, there's the helicopter:

And now after you finish going "WOW! What an awesome helicopter!" I mention that I took a copyright-free photograph of a helicopter from morguefile.com and traced over it. The blank areas will be filled with a tone, and the light lines around the edges of the helicopter blades will be replaced with tone, which theoretically should make it look like they're blurred.

But it's still a pretty good helicopter.

i say 'wow', because shamefully I couldn't trace if I tried, maybe I should go do some work myself...

What really helps with tracing metal things and other things with straight lines is either using the line tool, or setting the Compensate setting on the pen tool in ComicStudio to its highest setting, which basically allows you to start at one point and draw to another, and it'll put a straight line between the two, ignoring all the wibbles and shking in the line. :D

Oh, I know how hard it is to do a head at that angle - very nicely done!

Thank you! :D

That is marvelous head you have given us.

*snicker*

Sorry, couldn't help myself. It IS quite good, though.

Unfortunately on the rest of the page the hand job wasn't so good. (rimshot) Man, these things just write themselves.

(and I'm going to have to redraw the hands later - they're really mutant.)
