So you're strolling through this Tuscan villa-inspired house, open a door, and boom! Alchemy room.

ngl, if I wanted to live near Chicago and had $2.2M, I'd totally get it. Our budget is a wee bit less than that, though.

Make up the difference with a roommate or several? It's a marvellous place. I'd feel I'd be rattling around in it - yes, I have acquired a husband AND his library, but there's still a few rooms too many.

I like the way you think. Not necessarily roommates, but maybe co-owners.

There are 5 beds, and 5.5 baths, and 6404 square feet. I expect everyone to want alchemy room privileges. If they are 5 parties (some of which are couples), that's still 1 bed, 1+ bath, and 1280 square feet per party, for $440K per party.

Hm, property taxes, utilities, and upkeep will also take out a big bite. Still could be hard to swing, but definitely more doable that $2.2M.
