The dialect/slang thing is fresh in my mind because me, bitpig, and one of his friends were all talking to bitpig's Japanese foreign exchange student, telling her about the Southern dialect. She thought "Jeet yet?" for "Did you eat yet?" was funny.
I will confess to having picked up "soda" during my years in Denver and South Dakota, but a good portion of the time it's just "Coke".
