The Fridge Saga Continues

The place we called this weekend that worked on weekends didn't have an appointment open until today. Tech showed up, and it turns out that we have a Kenmore and also that Kenmore ties the compressor to the logic board, much like car key fobs are paired to the car so that you've got to go to the dealership to get a new one. He thinks the compressor should be under warranty, but he couldn't update the software on the board to match and the result is we had to call Kenmore and there's another tech coming out. Thursday.

So we just keep treating the freezer compartment as a cooler, mop up the melted ice, and add more ice bags as necessary for now. Bah.

Protip

Protip: if you get the brilliant idea to use the freezer compartment of your dead fridge as an impromptu cooler, put the ice bags into sturdy garbage bags first. Ours were apparently full of holes, so part of the evening was spent ladling water out of the freezer and toweling up the rest, then moving everything into coolers. And putting ice into the coolers, wrapped up in sturdy garbage bags.

We also went to the grocery store and bought lunch meat and cheese slices, along with packages of finger foods to assemble lunches with because neither of us really wants to go out for lunch.

I also bought a box of Little Debbie oatmeal crème pies. Fight me.
