Uncanny Valley
Apr. 20th, 2022 03:45 pmI think I've mentioned before that D.Va, our youngest cat, loves sitting on the cat shelf we have suction-cupped to the window. (The shelf rests on the back of the couch; we don't trust suction cups to hold the weight of up to 2 cats when one decides they want to displace the other.)

myrialux or I appear on the other side of the glass. Day before yesterday, myrialux went out to check the mail, and when coming back, saw D.Va on the shelf, so went to say hello through the window. D.Va freaked out, hissed, slapped the window a couple times, and scrambled off the shelf. We can only assume that seeing myrialux with no accompanying smell is the Uncanny Valley for cats.
In other news, friends coming to visit this weekend, and we have declared it to be a celebration of our tenth anniversary, so woo!
