telophase: (Mushishi - night moves)
Just to let you know that in addition to my fanart offer, I've just put up a little nifty something on [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry: a care package made of items from Yuuko's storehouse, as seen in passing in CLAMP's xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.

If it intrigues you, go and bid! :D Only $15 to open bidding on this box of wonders!

telophase: (Faustus and Mephistopheles fireworks)
Someone in the neighborhood got himself a bunch of firecrackers on strings and other fireworks. Nt sure where he is, since I can't see anything, but I can hear them. And so can the cat, who is freaked out by them and keeps creeping around, fluffed up. And the she comes and sits on the bench serving as my coffee table, and stretches waaaaay up to peer over the loveseat out the window nervously.

As I haven't heard them in a while, I expect that someone's probably called the cops, as fireworks aren't allowed in the city limits. The cat is sitting next to me, pretending she's not jumping at every little noise now.

Duuude...

The TiVo caught an episode of "How Did They Do That?" on History Internationl. This one is on ancient CHinese personal weapons. They showed a working model of a Chinese repeating crossbow. Duuuuude! Repeating crossbow! Apparently a trained crossbowman could shoot close to one arrow per second.

You can see a drawing of one on Wikipedia. You put arrows into the magazine on top, and the lever only took one motion to pull the string back, drop the next arrow into position, and release the string.

Yah, my TiVo knows me. XD

In other news, random fireworks have started up again. The cat has chosen to retreat under the bed.

And oh yeah ... I know where my copy of Steven Brust's Jhegaala is. Where's yours? XD
