Feb. 8th, 2008 08:58 amMigraine yesterday. Not a bad one, just one of those that Would. Not. Go. Away. I'm working the ref desk Saturday, so made the decision to not read LJ yesterday or today so that I'd have something to do Saturday. We'll see how well I manage to do that. Anything you want me to see or know before then, drop a note here. :)
I watched the first two episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles yesterday and then set a season pass on the Tivo. Also finished the Kage Baker Company series*, and read volume 1 of I, Otaku: Struggle in Akihabara. That was amusing, but I'm not sure how much more I can take, as there's really only so much humor to be found in extreme geekiness before you start wanting things like plot. Basic story: Sota is a closet otaku until the (insanely otaku) owner of a store in Akihabara forces him to admit to his geekiness. Wackiness ensues as he attempts to hold on to his girlfriend, maintain a Cool Guy rep with his friends, and indulge in his obsession for an animated character. Complications are brought by the owner of a doujinshi store, who is the eternal rival of the aforementioned store owner, ever since they were in college and the aforementioned owner broke up a budding romance** between the doujinshi store owner and a girl by turning her into a yaoi fan who no longer liked straight guys.
I'll probably give volume 2 a try, but I have doubts that the joke will be able to hold my attention that long.
* Which, since I have been unable to get into most any non-YA, non-Pratchett fiction prose book and stick with it long enough to finish it in, like, two years, is a major accomplishment for me.
** Entirely in his mind.
( LOLcat. Not mine. But thematically appropriate in general. )
