telophase: (L stalker blinky)
As the November issue of Tokyopop's Manga Online (neé Takuhai) has gone live as of today, I shall make the official announcement:

An edited version of my two essays on visual flow in manga has been posted as Manga Online's How-To of the Month.

=====================

And a pimp for anyone who comes by: I am also seeking submissions of original manga short stories for an anthology I and some friends will be publishing ourselves. We're willing to work with you to an extent, and if you are an artist looking for a writer or a writer looking for an artist, we can hook you up! Information can be found at the PandaBuddha website.

=====================

[another edit] Just found this quote. Has nothing to do with manga, but I liked it anyway.
"Libraries are brothels for the mind, and librarians are the madams, greeting customers, understanding their strange tastes and needs, and pimping books."

If you haven't been back to [livejournal.com profile] manga_talk since [livejournal.com profile] sub_divided posted her Death Note comparison essay, you might want to go through the comments; there's a nice set of comments from someone who knows a lot about the translation and is giving examples.

(And it was linked from Love Manga. Go us! XD)

I've just embedded my Livejournal onto my extremely-out-of-date website at www.telophase.net, because I got tired of people emailing me queries about costuming and such, when I haven't had time to do any in a year and a half or so. At any rate, you can now read my LJ there if you want, although the PHP method I'm using doens't allow you to read protected entries, so if you're on my friendslist, you'll have to stay here to experience all the fun and excitement.

This is from [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija:
I have just emailed everyone (I hope) who placed a reservation for the project formerly known as "Gay Mutant Black Ops," Project Blue Rose. This post is in case I missed someone, or there are new someones who want a copy or twelve.

For the people who haven't been reading the LJ too long, click here for an explanation.

Each copy costs $ 7 plus shipping and handling, for a total of $ 9.99.

Please go to Paypal.com and send your money, the number of copies you want, and your mailing address to sfolse@cepheid.org

The manga will ship in late December 2005.

If you can't do Paypal, let us know and we'll work something out.
