By the way...

Yesterday: one Coke.

Today:

NO
MIGRAINE

This is an encouraging turn of events. So: no artificial sweeteners, yes to caffeine! Although I'm going to make it a rarity, rather than a regular thing, as I don't want to have to detox again and I REALLY don't want to be back in the place where if I don't drink something with caffeine, I risk having a migraine.

I decided to try the no-caffeine experiment after a couple of weeks with headache, and looked up causes of chronic migraine, of which caffeine consumption was one. So, worth getting off to see if it would affect me. :)

Congratulations! Migraine is obviously a YMMV thing (or your triggers, more properly), but I did want to share that when I went off regular soda consumption, I discovered that caffeine actually does help my migraine in those pinch situations when I can't just take meds to knock myself out for a couple of hours. It didn't do this when I was consuming it every day, but there's a reason it's in some migraine meds.

Yup, caffeine's a vasoconstrictor, so if the blood vessels in your head are dilated and hurting, then it should help. I've known doctors who recommend taking aspirin or ibuprofen with some soda or iced tea for that reason.

Of course, today my head is hurting a bit from bad sleep last night but I shall resist drinking a Coke, because I need to not get back into that habit. XD
