Clients from Hell.

Reading this makes me very very glad that I don't do websites for strangers for money anymore. Of the last two times I accepted a client:

1) the first one said she had a jewelry store and wanted me to mock up a site for it. That was the sum total of information she gave me. I wrote back, asking what sort of jewelry, what feel she wanted for the site, whether she was selling online or it was more a brochure, etc., explaining that I didn't start sites until after I had that information. She never replied.

2) the second one I very carefully explained that I could not start the site until a specific date four weeks in the future, as I had finals and final projects due (last semester of grad school). She agreed. Then phoned me three days later and left a long message about the site and what they wanted done and how I should call her back so we could get started right away. I didn't bother.

I am not cut out for freelance web design. At least in my current position I, ironically, have a lot more autonomy.

I decided I could never freelance. My lazy work ethic was half of it, but my lack of ability to deal with clients was definitely the other half!

Yeah, seriously, I've experienced MOST of the things on that site and quite a few WAAAACKY things not mentioned there. XD

Normally I can find common ground with anybody but this one lady... man. I couldn't get where she was coming from AT ALL! WITH ANYTHING! Let alone what she wanted on her web site. She talked about the colours of my aura and one minute she was jumping down my throat and getting me all defensive then she was soothing and chatting happily about how I'm CLEARLY the only one who could do this site for her then she SUDDENLY zips off to Vancouver for a conference about ummm something mystical for a week and when she gets back she breezes back into my office to discuss her site more... AFTER I told her I couldn't work with her. She begged me to do her site. BEGGED ME! Crying! Tears and snot! O_O I WAS ~*~THE ONE~*~ TO DO HER SITE!

I just.. man. I was so creeped out. I told my boss I wasn't going to develop her site and he tried to MAKE me do it. So I told him *I'd* cry if he did. He didn't push me. XD
