Reading the comments on an article at Get Rich Slowly, wherein J.D. asked people what they wish they could tell their younger selves. I hit this comment, which made me go Bzuh?!
(I know the poster probably meant that they should have saved it instead of spending it, but the concept of not buying a book I'd like to read now because I won't want to read it at some point in the future is just ... alien.)
I wish I could tell myself as a kid not to waste my allowance on stupid crap. I spent it on stuff that I’ve grown out of, like kid’s fiction. Thinking of the total over the years makes me wince.So ... what should you have bought instead? Grown-up fiction that you didn't like then, because you'd grow into it later?
