TpopSpace

Tpop's gotten around to posting my next column, comparing the three manga versions of Train Man available in English right now to see how different mangaka approach the same material.

Next column

It seems that Tpop put my enxt column up earlier than I expected it: on manhua, Chinese comics, with a focus on Hong Kong, mostly because just about the only English-language reference available is Hong Kong Comics: A History of Manhua. Those of you on my f-list with a greater knowledge of manhua in the original are highly encouraged to talk to me about them. :)

Tpop columns

While I was off on a ship, Tpop posted my column reviewing Mangaka America (they asked me to review it), and this week they've posted part 2 of my self-publishing rant. :) (Part 1 seems to have gotten a lot of comments since the last time I looked. XD)

Tpop

My next Tpop column is up - on Osamu Tezuka, since I'd mentioned him a couple of times already and realized there were probably lots of people who didn't know much about him or why he's so influential.

hrm

I am reconsidering my assessment of my toe as non-broken: much of the general swelling has gone down, leaving a nice big lump right at the impact point, and it's actually starting to hurt a bit when I bend it, and throb a little when I'm just sitting there not doing anything. Again, not that it changes anything other than allowing me to whine a lot online and at my mother.

No picture, because my digital camera inexplicably reboots Windows when I disconnect it, whether I disconnect it properly using the Add/Remove Hardware, or improperly by turning it off, and as I'm not wanting to take the time for it to reboot at the moment, I'm not using the camera. (The iPod doesn't do that, however.)

Yeah, ok, I'm really posting because I'm in the midst of writng a Tpop column (on Osamu Tezuka, this time) and am finding all sorts of ways to distract myself. But my toe still might be broken.

For those who don't go to TpopSpace (and I can't imagine why not), my next column, part 2 of collaboration, is up.

Manga column

[livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija points out that maybe I ought update here when my column goes live over at Tpop (it's got a fairly wonky schedule ... "schedule" isn't exactly the best term for it XD).

So ... my next column, on collaboration, is up. I'm going to link you directly to it since it seems not to be showing up on their Manga section, only on the "New content!" section below the Flash ad on the front page.

Wooooo!

The Tpop website hosts polls (waay down on the bottom of the left side), and one of the current polls asks what your favorite column is. And so far it looks like the Manga Column is sitting pretty at 51%. Woo!

I shall now refrain from ever looking at the results again so that I can keep this feeling of superiority.

I suppose I really ought to write the next column, huh? *guilt*

This week's column...

...which should go up sometime Wednesday, I think, is aaaaaaall about how the desire to sell more train tickets culminated in the development of a genre of manga.

And in other news I have a headache and have had it all day. If it's still around tomorrow, I may end up going home, which I can't really afford this week, since the webpage is going love this weekend. Woes.

ETA: Live, I mean. Live, dammit! If the webpage were going love, it would be an ENTIRELY different experience.

Manga pundit

I've been sitting on this news for a while, until the site went live. Tokyopop.com's new website went live today, and you are now reading the words of the weekly manga columnist.

You may touch me.*

Anyway, I'd like to thank the approximately 413679316 people who forwarded me a copy of the announcement; I doubt I'd have geared up to send in an app if I hadn't gotten that many copies forwarded. XD

And now my "What sort of things should I write about?" post of a couple of weeks back makes much more sense now, doesn't it?

* But not in an inappropriate manner.

Again with the Manga Online!

Just a quick note to announce that I've written another article for TOKYOPOP's Manga Online March issue which is finally online after all the RSOM posting. They asked me to compare OEL manga to Japanese manga, and I did so, focusing on shoujo, because that's what I had the most of on my shelves. We're very scientific here at Camp Telophase.

Anyway, to read it, head over to Manga Online, sign in (it's free to register), and click Submissions, then How-To of the Month.
