I'm not entirely sure why I have a Facebook site in the first place - I don't remember signing up for it very well and I certainly didn't tell anyone*, but people seem to have discovered me - however I've recently discovered the addictive possibilities of Scrabulous. It's online Scrabble that has a Facebook app you can (install? is that the word?) in your account and play in turns with your Facebook friends. They've got a free site where you can play against total strangers in realtime, which intimidates me, but the Facebook version works fine for me. :) I've currently got five games going, although I swear I've got almost the same letters in every single hand.

* I think I was trying to eavesdrop on the students from the school I work at? Maybe? Or looking at setting up a library page there? Dunno.

If my grades drop this term, it will be wholly because of the addictive powers of Scrabulous.

If there was ever a Facebook app for Civilization, I'd starve to death in front of the computer.

I blame my near-failing freshman Bio grades on the fact that I was much more interested in trying to rebuild the Persian Empire in Civilization II. Definitely a "keep in the freezer if you want get anything else done EVER" game.

This is why I don't yet own Civ IV, even though I'm dying to. And this morning I heard about the Beyond the Sword expansion pack, which apparently lets you play with a lot more non-conquest things and OH GOD KEEP ME FROM BUYING THIS I DON'T WANT TO DIE IN FRONT OF MY COMPUTER

You might not even like Civ IV - the Mr. doesn't. He went back to his Civ 3.5 (like 3.0, but it has some added nations and scenarios ... the Mac versions are kind of out of sync with the PC ones).

It won't run on this older Mac ... that's why he has IV. It was actually one of my holiday gifts, from his brother. > humph! <

There may come a time when the courage of me to flee the internet will fail, but TODAY IS VERY LIKELY THAT DAY.

I...think it may be a good thing I don't have Facebook. I'd never pay attention to my work again.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel ridiculous, but you end up spending your time SuperPoking friends and turning them into zombies and Sith lords. It's bizarre. XD

Wah, can I friend you?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. :D How you find me, I have no idea because I've never figured that bit out my brain is totally occupied by Scrabulous. But people somehow manage to. :)

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha. Made an account and installed scrabulous. I am a sucker for scrabble.

[identity profile] janni.livejournal.com 2007-10-25 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
If anyone told me how much time I'd spend playing scrabble there, I'd never have signed up.

Notice how I'm not stopping, though.

Do not, under any circumstances, set up WarBook. It breaks all the time and if you are competitive it will make you crazy, because people will keep beating you up even when you don't have anything left to loot, and then you can't kill them because they're level 17 or they erase their accounts.
