Went to the Japanese Festival at the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth today and took a lot of photos of the garden. I got a couple of really nice photos and a bunch of merely nice ones - the gardens are designed so well that you just about can't take a bad photo. They're also designed so well that even when there's lots of people, you can still find aspects of the garden where you can't see very many of them. I still got there early enough so as not to deal with the worst of the crowd.
This is an example of how the best photos are completely accidental - I was taking picture sof the branch reflecting on the water and didn't see the koi there. :) Minimal digital manipulation to brighten the koi a bit as well as the overall colors.

I have no idea what kind of flower this is. The picture would be *really* nice without that other stick in the way, but hey, life ain't perfect.

If anyone wants to use pictures for reference or backgrounds or web graphics or whatever, here's a preview of 21 stock photos I uploaded to DeviantArt. To download the zip file (1.7 megabytes), click on the image and it'll take you to DeviantArt. Then, just click on the arrow underneath the preview image there, and it'll download. Provided the DA servers aren't being wonky. :)

This morning I remembered another big tip for grad school - sell your books via Amazon when you graduate. Especially if you put them up right at the start of a semester, they'll go fast. I managed to make back *far* more than I would ahve by selling them to the regular bookstore. :)

Everybody keeps telling me to hang on to books through Capstone, so I am. I don't think anyone would want to buy my books anyway because I'm one of those folks who uses up to five different colored highlighters in the books. I have bought some off some other folks in SLIS Village, though - got burned on 5200 (in my first semester) because the class was using the 2004, not the 1999 edition I bought from a graduating student. I hung on to the old one anyway and did not buy the new as we basically did not use the book in the class.

You'd be surprised at what people willa ccept when they want a book for cheap. Amazon gives you suggested prices for various types of condition, and if you're honest about the state of the book, no biggee. :) They also automatically add like $4 for shipping to the price.
