Anyone cleaned up their friendslist using the new friends interface yet? It confuses me, since it shows up with mutual friends and people I watch already checked in the "Friend?" box.

New interface? What? Where?

OK, so it's new since I last bothered to look at it. I don't know when it got implemented.

Wow, that's kind of confusing, isn't it? They're using a binary operator (check/no check) for a trinary state (you watching them/them watching you/mutual friend).

But I guess, the only thing you really change is the "add them as friend" - I mean, either they're already watching you, and you decide to make it mutual, or it's already mutual, and you decide that you don't want to watch them anymore.

(Did that help, or did I just make it worse?)

Actually, I didn't ask the real question I had: how do I defriend someone? Elaboration on that in the answer to [livejournal.com profile] magicnoire.

The key is to look at the arrows on the left. That's the only way I could parse anything the first time I saw that interface.

(...it's actually not that new... ^^; )

I figured out the arrows on the left. That's not my question. What's confusing me how the hell do I defriend someone? If it's checking them and hitting the Save Changes button, then why the hell are all those others already checked to start with, because it's a lot of work to uncheck all the ones I want to keep and way too much of a danger that I'm going to miss one and unfriend them.

Oh, okay!

When you first visit the page, it should be set up something like this:
- All your friends are checked.
- People who've friended you but you've not friended back are unchecked.

To defriend someone you previously friended, you simply uncheck their box.
To friend someone you haven't friended back, you check their box.

When you're done, click save and you should be fine.

Essentially, you want to make sure everyone you want on your flist is checked.
