I guess Yukimura starts out as pretty annoying and silly - although really, he had me from the moment he suddenly gets that sweetly evil smirk on his face in the fight with the ninjas, and says "If you stand behind me, you'll be dead." Something about his sudden transformation from the harmless drunken idiot who gets kneed by Yuya to this overly pretty killing machine, with that one little drop of blood on his face ... . His totally serious rage when Haira kills his own fleeing henchman cemented the crush.
He gets his own two-issue background story at the end of vol. 11.
I like Akira because he is so totally 19 years old - at one moment, he seems smarter and in some ways more evil then anyone else, then suddenly he's once again Kyo's preadolescent fanboy.
