Art generator in progress

Still tinkering with it, as I'm not particularly satisfied with the elaborate prompts I've got so far.

http://www.magatsu.net/art/

This isn't yet ready for release, which is why this is under friendslock. Released now, so unlocking the post. Play with it a bit and let me know what you think so far.

Elaborate

Theme: but when my summer days are gone. It should contain unearthly beauty or a swordfight, and use primarily complementary colors.

Using a predominantly purple color scheme, show a character in a mood of zest. Use the qualities of repetition, pattern, and variation on a theme to express your subject.

Using a predominantly purple color scheme, show a person who lives in a circus in a mood of relaxation. Do your favorite character in an art style like Impressionism, Expressionism, or Cubism.

Using contrasting colors, create a picture of a drug addict in the Barbary Coast. Theme: white flowers.

Using contrasting colors, create a picture of a sociopath in a harem. Theme: blood on the snow.

Simple

Your prompt is: I must not see her.

Your prompt is: green.

Your prompt is: inner flame.

Your prompt is: the fall of civilizations.

Your prompt is: weariness.

I like that one!

Me, too. :D Unfortunately, most of them aren't that good. I think I'm putting too many elements into a lot of them - there's a balance to strike between too little and too much.

I think I'm going to take your "Do your favorite character in an art style like Impressionism, Expressionism, or Cubism." out of the Challenge section and make it a prompt on its own: "Do [a person] in an art style like [style], [style], or [style]." And also add things like "your favorite character," "your favorite pairing," "a character you dislike," "a pairing you dislike" and whatever other combos I can think of to the Person list.

That makes me wish I could draw.

Try to evoke the quality of divinity using only white colors. Theme: consuming blood.

I'd love to see someone try to pull that one off.

It would probably be a very conceptual piece. XD (well, you *could* embroider white-on-white...)

"A deluge of blood heralds the end of a life, the soul rising to eternal communion with the divine, which is everything yet inherently unknowable, and therefore represented with the purest white, which is all colors and none."

See, I think the art world is such that you could actually pull off an art piece by scheduling an event where artists got up on a stage and merely described the paintings/sculpture/performance art they were going to do.

And it would be better than most art nowadays.

[identity profile] fourthage.livejournal.com 2007-06-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Would that be the art world version of Waiting for Godot? 'Cause that could actually be kind of neat.

Painting Godot? Portrait of Godot?

It would be kind of cool, I think. I sort of do a version of it already when I describe The Ultimate Science Fiction Convention Art Show Painting that I keep threatening to make. (But I think the picture in the listener's mind is so much better than any I could do.)

You could even do an open-mic version of it and allow audience members to come up and describe their works of art. :D

(If I had any sort of desire to have a connection with the local art world, I'd be tempted to do it. But that would require effort on my part, so instead I'll content myself with imagining it, which makes it more conceptual, and even better art.)

You know, the more I think about it, the more I would not be surprised to find that someone has already done this.

The what now?

If you've ever been to a con art show, you know the one I'm talking about.

It's a picture of a chainmail-bikini clad warrior woman, with thigh-high leather boots and a Brazilian bikini wax. With red hair. And green eyes. Probably a diadem with a flashing gem around her head. She's sitting on a unicorn. It's got wings. There is also, in the picture, playing in the grass at the hooves of the unicorn, a kitten. It's a tiger kitten. With wings.

Thee is also, somewhere in the background, a dragon. Naturally, with wings. Riding it is a buff male elf. There might be wings underneath his cloak. He is a mage. You can tell because he's got silver hair and purple eyes. He's also gesturing grandly with both arms. There's a staff of power in one hand, entwined with ivy and topped with a glowing orb. His other hand is holding a glowing ball of energy, or a fireball.

The middle ground of the picture has a crystal-blue lake, with mermaids frolicking in it. I would not put it past them to have wings. Behind the lake is a mountain range, with the fires of sunset touching the peaks. There may be a dragon or two back there in the air, breathing fire.

As you travel up the painting, the sky becomes a starfield, with a nebula that spills across the sky. There is also a spaceship. Parhaps two, engaged in a spaceship battle, with energy beams and one of the ships exploding in a ball of fire, sending meteors streaking across the sky.

There is also a robot. Female. Firing a gun larger than she is, with her metal shell molded to show every bump and curve of the female anatomy and to make it look like she's wearing a bikini and, inexplicably, makeup. She has mechanical wings.

And in the upper half of the background, hovering over all, smiling down upon the world with benevolent grace and blessing, the floating heads of the Voyager cast.

================

It changes every time I explain what it is, but there's always a few constants. XD

After I posted it, I realized that I completely forgot the gorgeous male vampire with his shirt open to his waist fighting the robot girl, and the wolf cub - with wings! - playing with the tiger kitten.

But I'm sure you had already seen them in your mind.

Of course, you know that if this was ever actually made, there would have to be a contest for a movie/tv show/book plot.
