Drawings of male superheroes based on cover and pinup shots of female superheroes.

Mind you, the Gambit one looks like you'd find it in manga. XD

I NEED TO GO CLEAN HOUSE NOW.*

* This is not a feminist or antifeminist statement, it's a reflection of the fact that there's a protective layer of dust and cat hair over every surface in the apartment and someone besides me and the cat will be here today.

That link was worth it if for nothing else than the Gambit fanservice ♥

Yup! XD

My room needs cleaned again as well. I just lost my Nintendo DS to the mess.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ironically, I just found mine last night, as I was cleaning. XD

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing is, I had mine when I went to bed. What were you playing on the DS? I don't remember you mentioning it.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I got the boy's hand-me-down for Christmas when he bought himself a DS Lite. :D I almost never pay it because I don't remember I own it. On it now is either Tetris or Cooking Mama.

[identity profile] rayechu.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My friends have DS lites, but I can't see replacing mine as it still works. I think a black one would be cool though. I don't use mine all that much either. It usually sits in my purse. I have pokemon, sudoku, FFIII, and puzzlequest for mine.

Gambit!!

The Scott one looks like something you'd see in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. XD

> snicker <

Naughty naughty hero-boy pix ... and from what I recall of Gambit, he'd go for that ... .

There are several geological strata of papers on my desk, mixed with manga and other paperbacks and interlaced with interface cables ... and let's not even think about what's underneath the deak itself.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I cleaned the toilet, scrubbed off the mildew colony that was starting to return in the grout on the tub, and removed the worst of the dust and hair from the sink surfaces. I think Rachel will have to live with that.

Maybe I should remove a couple of the bulbs from the bathroom light fixture so nobody can see the floor's corners and the area behind the toilet. I always say dim lighting does wonders for the complexion.

Grout ... let's not even think about grout! The amateur patch job that the previous owner did over the earlier faucet/knob apertures in our tub is hopeless, no matter how much I scrub.

And the underneath of the furniture on the ground floor of the house tends to generate appalling little tumbleweeds composed of long, wavy brown hair from the daughter and downy tan-and-white fluff from the bunny rabbits.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
For some weird reason I've never lived in a place that had mildew issues before, but this bathroom likes to grow it, for some reason. I found some on the shower curtain; I'm getting bored with this curtain anyway, I'll probably just throw it away and go find a new one next week.

I get those sorts of tumbleweeds with cat hair, plus little shreds of paper form the receipts and other pieces of paper the cat ferrets out of places. I need to hit a few spots with the vacuum cleaner; I'm sure this appals non-cat-owners, but I let hairballs sit until they get hard unless they're on something like MY BED because it wigs me out to touch warm, soft, smelly cat barf*, and then I clean them up,** but they often leave behind a little bit of crud attached to the carpet which only comes up with the vacuum.

* You can tell I'm not a parent.

** My mom used to let them sit on the carpet too, but that was because if she left them alone the dog would clean them up for her. Which probably appals other people. XD

Dogs are very eco-conscious in their way ...   ;-)   .

I firmly believe that baby-indiced horomone shifts ameliorate one's reactions to stuff like that, or very few of us would survive the infancy of our offspring.

Before folks come over, I always have to clean up the one room where the buns are allowed to run about, because ... well, they pee in their litter box pretty dependably, but poo is another issue. But it's little and almost dry and doesn't smell ... and only gets drier with time. And it's a tile floor, and it gets cleaned up with a brush and pan that don't get used for any other purpose ... .

You can wash a shower curtain in the washing machine. By itself works best. (Shopping is pain, laundry pain happens anyway.)

Maybe you're a good candidate for a Roomba. I watched one in an office I was in the other day. It actually did appear to be removing stuff from the rug. I always thought they were more a toy than useful.

[identity profile] sparkylibrarian.livejournal.com 2007-05-31 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Long-haired kitties are very liberal with the hairballs. Also, with what we euphamistically call "dingleberries" from the, er, other end. I was scrubbing the ass-end of my big, black cat one day and I decided that there was no way I could have children. :)

I, too, leave hairballs to set. Once in a while I'm brave enough to clean up a particularly coherent tube of barf*, but I usually prefer to let that cool and set, too.

* TMI? Unless you have a cat... ;)

I saw those before, and went, "What's so weird about...I read too much a lot of BL manga."

Also, Gambit fanservice FTW.

I felt that Jim Lee used to draw Gambit as a sex object in ways I was more accustomed seeing applied to female characters. His Gambit, while he was depicted kicking ass or crackling with power often enough, was mostly drawn to emphasize how sleek and graceful he was, not how strong and intimidating he was. But it’s not just that Gambit is lithe; it’s some indefinable way he was posed and presented, like here (http://viridian.shriftweb.org/gambitgame.jpg) (This was about 15 years ago. Time flies. *sigh*).

[identity profile] derjmeister.livejournal.com 2007-06-01 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw that pic of Gambit you linked and immediately, my mind totally and inexplicably went "Gojyo? Wait. No." So I see what you're saying. It does look like he's there to be viewed as hot rather than to be there to kick ass. Hmmmm.

[identity profile] viridian5.livejournal.com 2007-06-01 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I also remember reading the issue wondering if Jim Lee really meant for Gambit's head to be that close to Wolverine's crotch....

Too many artists draw all male heroes as the same hulking mass of steroid-fed muscle, including Gambit. I miss Gambit's sleeker days.

LMAO!
Super Man--the Solar Powered Nancy Boy Scout
Cyclops--The Army of One Glowstick
Wolverine-- Emo King.
Night Crawler-- His tail makes him popular with the guys and the ladies. *raises one eyebrow*

My faves:
Gambit-- the Cajun Playboy
Batman-- tis funny, yet painful to see my beloved Dark Knight this way. ^_^

I dunno - the Cyclops one could be better if they just changed the pose for him to be fully facing forward - give us that ol' Summers Sausage ;D
