I think I've seen posts like this all over my friendslist...
early club design client:

"more fonts. use more fonts!"
"ummm... how many do you want?"
"how many do you have?"

-------------

client comment:

Please also put a landlord hat on the landlord.

More fonts! And I bet they like 12 different condiments on their burgers, too! And on their sirloin steak! And on their sushi ... ! (By all means, don't forget the mayo, or Sanzo will be pissed ... .)

Seems to be the week for that ... on the "up" side, our group within the agency is finally developing its own homepage, which we should have had ages ago because we're the folks who create other peoples' homepages. On the "down" side, we had a scary week or so where it looked like our management was going to insist on a "more interesting!" look and feel ... meanwhile, we're continuing to be the style police and the "consistent look and feel" enforcers for everyone else. Thank God the bosses changed their minds when I showed them their material looking all classy and demure in the regular template ... .

I got around the Dread Committee Problem by putting off the actual design until the last minute, then doing it and posting it without input from anyone but my boss. :D (I'd been very leery of the Committee, as it had been responsible for the previous design.)

I had one of the committee come up to me a couple of months ago and tell me it had been a good strategy. XD

What does a landlord hat look like?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I have no idea.

Now, my hat, on the other hand, is a cardinal's hat edges with white fake fur. It also has hydraulics installed so that it jumps up and down, and occasionally the top lifts up and a statue of the Virgin Mary rises up, rotates, and sinks back down again.

I'm thinking of installing a subwoofer on it.

I dunno, but I totally want one.

I want to know what a landlord hat looks like.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2007-05-29 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that's the question of the day.

It's a gimme cap with paint flecks and grease stains.

According to Google Image Search, the font of all knowledge, either a trucker cap or a black top hat (accessorized with a handlebar mustache and cane) can qualify as a landlord hat.

Oh, lord. Have I mentioned that last Wednesday was presentations of our first HTML/CSS assignment? Have I described some of the remarkable fug which was displayed, and defended with cries of "I wanted to do something different!"?

Good times.

Heh. There's a reason why one rarely sees Paris runway fashions (or amateur attempts at such) on real human beings, especially in business situations. But most people fail dismally at translating that experience to web pages.

Is this just a coding nuts-n-bolts class, or are they going into design concepts at all?

[identity profile] heyoka.livejournal.com 2007-05-30 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say design concepts, much, but definitely emphasis on usability.
