My new scanner?
WORTH EVERY PENNY I PAID. It picked up EVERY mistake detail.

I am in love with the way the feathers turned out, and it was entirely accidental. I had no real idea how to go about it, but it seems my approach worked. :D

ACTUAL PIXEL SIZE of the scan. (Actually, I lie. This is the actual pixel size after I resized it down to 300ppi. I scanned it at 600, to make sure it picked up detail. Produced a 200 MB file, it did. :D)

Just phenomenal, and I'm not even a FFVII fangirl (although I do own Advent Children *g* - don't hold that against me).

I've never even played FFVII - my only contact with the franchise is Kingdom Hearts* and Advent Children. XD

Any drawing I do is (very untechnical) pencil; I'm in awe of this piece, because I can appreciate the work that goes into it far better than I can with manga / Photoshop (which I *know* takes work, but have no experience of myself, if that makes sense).

I've never played the FFVII game, but I read enough Wikipedia to figure out the plot of the game, and then watched Advent Children. XD That and Sephiroth's appearances in the Kingdom Hearts games are all of my exposure to the franchise. :D

So, basically, if you're looking for something very good and have the $$ to spend, I'd suggest the 836XL (although make sure that the person selling it has tested it, and not just 'tested to turn on' - the working ones seem to sell $300-450).
If you don't have the $$ for it, then don't bother buying a really expensive one, because I think it won't be worth it. You probably won't be able to find a scanning bed larger than 8.5 x 12" or so, since they no longer make large scanning beds for the home consumer. (The 836XL has about a 12x17" bed.)
