Sephiroth sketch

Hopefully I actually have paper large enough for this...

ETA: Phew, barely. The charcoal paper I use for the pencil things is 12 x 18" and the pic is 11 x 17".

The light shapes on his face and neck are me putting guides for the pencil shading. And now to work up a Vincent and I can get this show on the road!

ETA: The final pencil piece is posted here.

im totally loving the composition here *__* <33333~
Cloud's reflection on the sword is going to look fantastic in the finished version of this .. i can already imagine it *3*
but na, aren't Sephy's eyes too far apart O_O?

Thanks. :D

Eh, they may be, but it doesn't bother me - I knida like he way it makes him look a little alien. I'm 3/4 of the way through shading the pic, so it's too late to change now. XD Although if I get a hair to try painting it, I may push 'em together and see what it looks like. :)

(And I'm amazed at how well the wing is turning out in my pencil shading piece - I've never actually done feathers before like this, and it sort of accidentally worked. XD)

lol 8D; i see .. i know how painful it is to change something wrong in the picture when you are half way through it .. i thought its still in the sketching stage so there might be still some time to fix it. but if you like it that way then so be it :D .. heh
i've always been fascinated by wings but sadly never tried drawing them before now ..
don't you love it when parts of your drawing *accidentally* start looking great =P .. lol XD
happens alot with me XDDD

Nah, I'd started in on the pencilling and shading already, so there would have been no way to erase and move the eyes without it being noticeable. :) Charcoal paper smushes down a bit when you use tight, sharp linework like the eyes need, so the outlines of the eyes would still be there.

Yeah, the accidental stuff is great. XD

Very cool!

The leading edge of the wing is looking a little flat to me, in contrast to the lovely detailed feathers, but I suspect that's just because there's no shading on it yet.

I like Sephiroth's slightly alien/elvish wide-set eyes!

(and has Seph actually got "Black" tattooed on his knuckles, or is that a shading directive?)

This is the thing that I take the basic lines from to transfer to the charcoal paper to start shading. The lines on it are *all* shading directives. :)
