Hey, I've become a meme!
ETA: Does this read like a fantasy version of Jane Eyre or what?
This narrative is about mythology or history. It starts in a giant country mansion with a governess. The antagonist is an emotionally traumatised misanthrope and the plot involves elements like attack magic and sex somewhere that might be overheard.

I forgot to mention the Cool Bits that I take for granted so much I - er - forgot them :) Other than dinosaurs, of course.
Enormous quantities of angst. Industrial quantities, in fact. But only well-deserved angst, such as is found in Saiyuki or Weiss Kreuz.
Generally optimistic, but not *completely* happy, endings. I distrust stories where all the ends are tied up perfectly, but a resolution to the angst and a light at the tend of the tunnel is Cool :)
Oh, and mad scientists. Every story needs a mad scientist to go with its dinosaurs.
Subtext goes without saying, right?
