Spindrift preview and tutorial!
While inking a page earlier today, I took pictures of the process and during my off time at the ref desk tonight wrote up a tutorial following the process I've been using while inking Spindrift. It's posted over on the PandaBuddha Manga page, and you can get a preview of a page you haven't seen yet, plus ogle the MOSTLY-NAKED MAN in the tutorial.
I wonder how many people clicked the MOSTLY-NAKED MAN link without actually reading the rest of the paragraph?

And got REALLY confused for a second.

I read the whole paragraph, and then clicked the mostly-naked man link. Does that count? :-)
The tutorial was interesting, the artwork was ... very tasty! But the pen-porn temptation in the comments (just above) was what made me laugh out loud.

And sorry if you've covered this before, but can I ask why you pencil digitally and ink traditionally?

I'm currently pencilling digitally because I am ... well, my art teacher put it "You are not afraid of lines." XD What he meant was: I scribble like mad everywhere. If I pencil on paper, I scribble until I can't actually see much of the scene I'm trying to draw, then I draw the big lines in really dark and heavy, scan it, change it to blue, print it out, and attempt to refine form there. And it takes several iterations of that until I find something that works out of the mess, and then I have to fix it in Photoshop anyway, because inevitably something will be out of proportion. If I do it digitally, I can just erase away and resize at will. Much quicker and less frustrating all around.
I prefer my traditional inks at the moment - they feel warmer to me somehow, and they're faster and easier. My digital inks are ... ok, but not great. As I said in the tutorial intro, I inked Project Blue Rose digitally because my scanner sucked, so it was less work, but now that I have a spiffalicious scanner, it's not a problem.
