What I was up to this weekend...

...when I had NO INTERNET. The boy was in town so sorry, [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija, not Spindrift got done. Went to dinner with his family on Friday night, got stormed on, came home to find OMG NO INTERNET. Woke up Saturday morning, still OMG NO INTERNET. Went to a wedding, then to Ikea, came home ... OMG STILL NO INTERNET. This was the point I started texting LJ to ease the withdrawal symptoms. Went to dinner, came back, NO INTERNET. This was the point when it became absolutely critical for both of us, because Season 3 of Doctor Who premiered Saturday and ... it was like being in the dark ages of the 20th century! We put furniture together with much language, and checked often, but still no internet. Sunday morning, no internet. We watched the second half of Kung Fu Hustle, the first half of which we'd watched Friday, then ... the miracle occurred! The Internet was back! So I set Bittorrent to suck down DW, we went to lunch, then came back and ... yes! The Internet was still here! And so was Doctor Who! So we watched it, and then eventually I took the boy to the airport and now I'm back home.

And I bring kittyspam and plague rat spam!

Look! I can look ALERT! And INTELLIGENT! Fooled you, huh?!

Here is my Ikea plague rat. They had a whole bin of them at $2.99 each. How could I not indulge? Anyway, he is soft and plushy and squishy, and I still haven't decided on a name.

I got these at Ikea, too, in the As-Is section: two cabinets the right size to both support my printer, and to store large pads of paper and cats. The furniture that required much language to put together was a bedframe, but no photos because my room is horrifically messy right now. :) 90% of the bedframe was easy, but there were a few things to put in using small screws, and nobody had pre-drilled starting holes for them, so they were a bitch to get in.

You can see that now I have two of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

And you should all take this little word of warning to heart...

Yay! You are back and with bonus kitty spam.

Ratty McCatsbane! Or, err, maybe not. I tend to put "Mc" in names a lot for no discernable reason.

I totally forgot that Doctor Who would be starting again. I even missed the Christmas Special. Maybe I should BitTorrent it myself just so I can keep up the pretense of being "cool" and up to date with random programs my friends watch...

Yay for picspam! *is in the process of creating some of her own - but no cute kitties or plague rats in it, sorry*

Hee, isn't your cat doing a version of the Maneki Neko (http://www.onmarkproductions.com/html/maneki-neko.shtml) pose in that first pic?

I go insane whenever I have that no-internet problem--it's like all the oxygen has been sucked out of the room.

[identity profile] kintail.livejournal.com 2007-04-02 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that about the pose, too!

Of course, trying to *make* any normal cat take that pose would be impossible, I'm sure...

It's funny how having my own cat now has sucked away all of my vocabulary when seeing any cat. I make Nanny Ogg's baby vowels and wave my hands around like an idiot.

Have you seen the recent xkcd comic about cats?

Oh dear. It's so true, I have printed it out and stuck it on my fridge.

Yay, you're back! With awesome kittyspam!

I pet that rat every time I go to my local IKEA (which is about 1 mile away, so, often), but for some reason I'm not sure of, I have not bought my own yet. And if I do now, it will look like I'm just copying you like a poser! Noez!

Doctor Who

On a related note to the new season of Doctor Who:

Apparently much of the current cast appeared in a special episode of "Weakest Link", including David Tennant, Jack Barrowman, and...well...I could go on, but you probably blanked out after that second name. Anyway, look for it at the torrent store near you.

Whoa! I did not know about either the premier or this special episode. Thank you both!

Kitty spam!

Also, whoo, I have a plague rat too! We can conspire to spread plague throughout most of the Western US.

Your kitty is so cuuuute!! I wanna do kitty spam one of these days... but my camera is dead.. I only got a couple bad pics when she was a kitten and that's all... Im horrible ;o;~~~~*sniff*
The last one is great, you got her at the right moment to have her arms reaching out and that evil glow in the eyes ^^
If only her mouth was a bit open with some drool coming out X3
