I HAVE A SCANNNNNNNER!!
It picks up great subtleties in shading - I think I sold the marker piece I was thinking of testing, so I don't have that to show you, but I scanned in the cover of Minekura's Sugar Coat artbook so you can see:

I scanned that at 300ppi, then shrank it down for Web display. Here's an actual-pixel-size chunk of the scan. You can see the dots laid down by the printer as the book was printed, but they're fairly unobtrusive.

Wheeeeeeeeee!

And it only took two worried phone calls to the boy (he used to work a help desk) to get it up and working. For some reason the scanning driver isn't installing to Photoshop, so I can't scan from within PS, but I'll be emailing Epson to ask what the hell's up with that. It was happening with my previous scanner, too, so I know it's not the scanner's fault.

When you next feel like procrastinating, I think everyone would be thrilled and privileged to behold...
1. "The foolish reptile has no divine powers!"
2. Onmyoji (the creepy animal foot guy! the woman with the fish in her mouth! the musical instruments with legs! etc!)
3. The pictorial history of Buddha Jumped Over the Wall
4. Chibi Sasuke and Gaara holding hands (unless you
lost itthey've gotten a room by now.)no subject

(And then after you give her the original, you can use it as a basis for a drawing of Hot Character of the Moment riding a unicorn, and sell copies at A-Kon!)
Let's see, whom would cause the most cognitive dissonance riding a unicorn... Light? L? Sephiroth? Kakashi? Gojyo? Sanzo?
I see a little cartoon of Sanzo on a unicorn, aiming his gun at Gojyo while the latter makes virginity jokes.

2. I know it is a younger kids book, but did you ever read it? I liked the Darkangel Trilogy and the little blurb on amazon looked pretty good.

Man, it would be awesome to scan my large comic pages in one shot rather than two then having to photoshop the halves together!

I miss IKEA. It'll be a few months yet before we get one in Portland. Right now, the closest is in Seattle, 5 hours from here (though we're gonna be up there in two weeks for SakuraCon so maybe we can squeeze in a trip XD.)
Steven promises that there will be no reshuffling after May 1st. :D We'll see. But yeah, I don't think we'll get shifted much.

12 x 18? @_@ That's gotta be really expensive huh? Where did you get it? :O I'm curious~ lol

I used to buy cheap scanners for $75 or so, use them til they broke or started scanning badly, and get a new one. Last time I bought one, I reasoned that if I bought a more expensive scanner, it would work better, so I spent $275 on one. The scan wasn't any better than the cheap ones, which was annoying. I'd done a bit of research (i.e., asked nyanko_chan over on DA XD) and found that this was a really good, reasonably affordable used, scanner, and after a year and a half of wiffling back and forth on it, decided that if I were going to spend $300 on a scanner, I might as well buy one that had very good reports on it, and went for it.

Eeeee if only I was making money at this thing called art XP Wow, I so can't afford that... I'll have to stick to ones under 100 for now :PPPP
I really don't know how to tell if a scanner is good though until I've actually scanned with it... if it's good, it should scan without distoring colors or washing out my colors XP I hope I can find one soon!

Now I have to actually practice more with my markers because I can't blame the scanner for a crappy pic anymore. XD

Hopefully they'll improve the less expensive scanners someday soon :P
LOL~ don't say that X3... but practice is good!
