It looks good without tones! It's already interesting, with that much line variation, and the pretty pretty faces and hair. Tones would just make it look less like a standalone illustration.
One thing is that the lines on their bodies are kind of broken up. I think you were the one who wrote that this makes them look traced (though I know you don't trace) or at the very least, unconfident. Well, but I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that.
This isn't the sort of broken up I was talking about - what I've got above is differences in line weights, to give it a more dynamic line. You'd be able to see the many individual strokes that the pen made.
I know it's just a trick of perspective, and the anatomy is accurate; but this image gives me the unsettling impression that either smirking guy has an extra joint in his upper arm, or knife dude has the smallest neck in the history of ever.
Yeah, perspective is really hard to nail, to have accurate *and* look convincing. XD Sometimes you just gotta give up and stop worrying about it. XD Knife dude's left arm gave me fits for ages and I'm still not happy with it.
(but I am quite proud of the forearm with the knife!)

Also, I love Manoj's smirk.
