Amusing news article of the day. The reason for the slightly-mangled English, I suspect, is that it's from the Mainichi Daily News, and has been translated from the original Japanese by a non-native speaker of English, but it's still funny.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I thought "mainichi" already meant "daily"?

And yeah, that placement of clauses is slightly unfortunate.

I think that maybe the title in Japan is simply "Mainichi," but the English version is "Mainichi Daily News." They don't seem to be too concerned with getting the English absolutely right in the articles. :)
