All thanks to badnoodles for telling me that Halloween Town was a good leveling-up place in Kingdom Hearts. I've managed to go up three levels tonight, although I'm starting to get woozy and sick from the gameplay, so I'll have to stop for now.

Still can't get the damn mushrooms right. I'm supposed to hit them three times with whatever they're telling me to hit them with, but I'm apparently not very good at figuring it out, or I'm way too slow on the buttons or something. Dangit.

I never bothered with the mushrooms. They're only good for synthesis items and while getting the super special keychain of awesomeness is neat, I found I got along just fine without it.

I spent half an hour on the mushrooms before deciding that the frustration wasn't worth it. Regular gameplay upgrades you enough as you go along. I stopped by the synthesis shop now and then to see if I could make anything with stuff I'd picked up, but I didn't go out of my way to get ingredients.

Ah, Halloween Town. Run in circles and kill things.

I always found that the best way to handle the mushrooms was to target lock on one, open the spells list with the shoulder button, and and use the arrow keys to pick the appropriate spell. Once you've done it once, stay locked on the 'shroom, re-select the same spell, and keep the shoulder button held down. Wait for the appropriate charade, and hit X. Really helps with the 'stupid slow fingers' problem.
