Heroes ep whatever it is

Let me just get this out of the way once and for all: "Save the cheerleader, save the world" is a stupid tagline and clunky to boot. Pfui.

Yes, future!Hiro has a ponytail/braid/something. Well spotted, [livejournal.com profile] oyceter.

What is it with TV shows in which people show up somewhere and never actually tell someone else the truth ina clear and unambiguous manner? I know that in storytelling terms the writers don't want to waste time in telling someone else what we were just shown in a previous scene, but what it seems like to me is someone shows up in a place, someone else is all "What's going on?" and the first person starts going off on semicryptic remarks instead of saying "Well, this, this, and this." (I'm thinking specifically of Younger Brother showing up in Isaac's studio, but it's really a more general complaint about almost every TV show I've ever watched.)

And Claire!Dad? Creeeeeeepy.

Oh my GOD. I can never look at people with those huge dorky glasses like Clarie's dad has ever again without feeling threatened.

*Claire

I can spell, I sware.

A former supervisor of mine had those big, dorky glasses. 'Course he was a film-school geek.

At least ... he said he was.

Did a bald black guy follow him around?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I noticed, but as this was Texas A&M, there were a lot of bald black guys wandering around -- at least half of the football team fit that description, and many other regular students.

Admittedly, I was on the wrong side of campus to see any in scrubs - the vet school was over on west campus, so any occurrences of bald black guys in scrubs would probably be concentrated over there.

I love this series. Younger Brother is a brilliant addition to the story. He as his special skill is really what seems to be drawing it all together and making it interesting.

Unfortunately, I find Younger Brother dull, dull, dull, and his plotline only interesting as it intersects wiht other characters. :) I'm hoping that as it continues and they start pulling together that he'll get more interesting, but with now I'm all about Hiro, and Creepy!Dad. :) (Mohinder's good eye candy, but he's getting dull.)

Have no fear. Younger Brother's power is in how he interacts with others. I'm confident as more of them gather, his story will become the most interesting. :)

Hiro is definately my favorite, though.

I just want to see Hiro's face when Peter tells him that he has a message from Future!Hiro, who speaks perfect English and bears a katana.

"I have a ponytail, right? I always wanted a ponytail!"

After hearing good things about it, I tried watching Heroes last night and was very disappointed that it didn't do anything for me. Too many characters for somebody who isn't already with the program. And, yes... would it have killed somebody to just *say* what they were getting at?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-10-24 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
And they keep introducing new characters every episode, it seems. You really have to have watched from the beginning, I think. :/

Unfortunately, yeah. It's the downside of the rush of shows inspired by the success of "Lost;" if you aren't there from day one, you'll be hopelessly lost and won't bother tuning in again. And the flipside of *that* is that if you *did* make that investment in the show from day one, you'll feel more like you *have* to keep watching to the end, just because you've already put in that much mental effort. At least, I think that's the only reason I'm still watching "Lost."

Trading accessibility for addiction, huh? :)

I haven't watched Lost, but from what I understand, Heroes is doing a better job of having an actual plot happening behind all the weirdness. Although only time will really tell if that's true or just illusion.

I can better believe the ambiguousness from the wispy-minded Younger Brother than from Hero Hiro Nakamura who just came all the way from the future to tell him this. Dude, if you're not gonna be clear, you could have saved the effort!
