pictorial proof!

Don't click on the cut unless you want to see my bruised-up, possibly broken toe. :D

It's actually more spectacular in person - the flash seems to have washed a lot of the redness out. The previous toe I'd broken had bruising over a larger area, which is why I'm not entirely convinced it's broekn, but I'm not entirely convinced it's not cracked or something. Ah well.

Cat posts are way too hazardous. That's why I covered a plank in carpet and bolted it to the wall, so there's nothing int he middle of the floor to click. A couple of carpet-covered shelves near the cieling, and you get happy scratching/climbing cats with little fuss.

And fewer broken toes.

er ... "in the" ... and "kick" instead of "click" ... my fingers have been drinking too mcuh lately.

10 pts for drinky fingers.

Hmm, interesting. The sharp edge of the bruise at the joint must signify something. I think when I broke mine, the entire toe turned purple. I'd tape it as a precaution and to prevent pain, though.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's much darker now. :D I'm starting to incline myself to the idea it's not broken - my previous broken toe wasn't the entire toe, although the bruise was larger - because the pain is currently much less, and I am capable of slowly bending my toe without pain, just feeling pressure. So I think it may be a bone bruise or some other type of bad bruise.

[identity profile] sclerotic-rings.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
You know, if it gets really bad, we can just amputate it. I can be over with the bowsaw and the soldering iron in about a half-hour: I'll even be willing to fry it up and serve it with fava beans...

D'ah! Owies... oh, hey... nice to see somebody has odd pinky toes like me! Whee!

Erm.. wot's that? (tries to peek at what those books are on the left, ever the manga addict)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
And it's gotten darker since I took the picture! :D

Books are, from the bottom up, Paul Gravett's book on manga, horribly overdue from the library, Mange: Masters of teh Art, Return to Labyrinth (which I still ahvne't read past the first chapter of), and The Wallflower volume 8. :D

Thanks for sating my curiosity!

Is there any swelling on your poor toe? The only thing I can think of, is it there isn't any swelling, keep it from cramped spaces so it can heal OK. I'm not a licensed professional, though!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, there's a bit. I've decided it's bruised instead of broken, since I can slowly curl my toes without pain, and I couldn't do that with my other foot when I broke the toe there (which of course led to irresistible urges to curl my toes). :D

[identity profile] taer-silveroak.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
*cringes into a pretzel form*

A co-worker of mine jammed her big toe-nail back into the cuticle. It's very nasty looking. It looks like it's been fungus-ized, but it wasn't just a few days ago. I felt better after she said she's dealt with this before (strangely enough I feel compassion for my co-workers)... once she got her nail stuck in linoleum, and somehow stomped down on it with her other foot... so... uh... damn.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yikes! That makes my toe hurt just reading about it. XD

[identity profile] taer-silveroak.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Awww.. poor Telo-toe! *sniffles* You takin anything for the pain? Aspirin? Topical stuff? Vodka?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I took Advil last night, but haven't taken anythign since - it really only hurts when I accidentally bash it against something, or when the cat JUMPS ON IT OW. My broken toe was similar - it msotly hurt when I curled it, or forgot and pushed off on that foot in my chair. :D

[identity profile] taer-silveroak.livejournal.com 2006-09-15 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Ah! My favorite is when the kitty steps just close enough to your foot that her one leetle claw goes -BADOINK- and you're all.. GAAH! PUNCTURED TOE! x.X

[identity profile] arkanefyre.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch. Though, I don't think it's broken. That looks like my pinky toe that I smashed into the piano leg one day. I ran to get the phone, but somehow I tripped on the lamp chord and got my toe smashed. XDD;;;

This Chinese bone-injury guy looked at it, and he said it was nothing. Then suddenly, while telling me about this lady's injury, he yanked and twisted the toe. It was painful, but it became straight again and wasn't as swollen. Hee. Maybe you should just try yanking it...?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-09-14 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's gotten much darker now, with blood pooling just at the base of the nail. XD But I'm pretty sure it's not broken now, since I can slowly bend it without pain, which I couldn't do when I broke my other toe (and that was was truly broken: I saw the X-rays. Pretty spiffy. XD).
