As usual, the 11x17 size Advent Children were the biggest sellers, with 11x17 L coming in fairly strong with the Naruto/HP crossover. I probably could have sold a couple more of the first two, and I have one 11x17 of the Naruto/HP left over. Mello wasn't very popular, but I attribute that to the English release of the Death Note books having just introduced him. I suspect that he'll be much more popular at next A-Kon. Still no love for Ichigo from Bleach.

Again, very striking composition, or pictures depicting Moments were popular.

Well, yeah, for the TEN SECONDS it took me to go back into the code and fix it. (rich text mode - necessary for putting the table up with minimum fuss - doens't handle cut well, so you ahve to post it, then go back in under regular text editing and fix it)

I am curious - how much do you charge for commissions, and do you ever take them while not actually at a con?

Not that I'd commission you NOW, of course, but maybe sometime when you're not drowning in fresh commissions?

I usually don't take them at a con just because I haven't really had time lately. But if I've got time, I'm willing.

As far as prices, I charge more outside cons than I do at cons, just because of the whole time issue, and I sort of play it by ear depending on the commission itself. The more complicated, the higher the price. I quoted someone $50 with permission to sell prints ($100 if they wanted it exclusive) for a B&W piece with 4 characters and a background and a reasonably detailed pose request. A simple one-character B&W piece with no background would be closer to $15ish/30 for exclusivity.

I don't have my formal gallery up with all the art I've collected (being on Gaia Online, where one can get real art for fake money, I've amassed quite a collection) but there's a bunch of past commissions in there if you're curious to see what my OCs look like. I'll have to ping you sometime when you're not busy. :)

If you put all the Advent Children things together, it suggests to me that you should do a picture or two of Sephiroth and/or Cloud for the next con-- granted, the picture itself is extremely striking, but I think fanbase has to account for some of the popularity.

I sold two, actually: for some reason, the picture of Near isn't lining up nicely. Yeah, I need to do Sephiroth and/or Cloud. I figure judging by the number of people with keyblades wandering around, I should do some of the Kingdom Hearts characters, too.

I realized the reason I don't have the Ouran picture up is that she didn't pay me for it, because when she came by, I was assuming I'd get it done before the end of the con. So I don't actually have that money, so it's not counted above.

I have to wonder how much of the remarkable number of sales of Project Blue Rose compared to any one other thing were due to me doing a special promotion on it, and it being the only one of its kind (ie, doujinshi), and that I don't think anyone else was selling yaoi doujinshi, and how much is that people are interested in buying yaoi doujinshi in English.

It's encouraging for any future ones we might do, anyway. Betcha there'd be a nice market for Spindrift.

I think you're right about the second point. There's another, interesting factor as well: fan-art sells to fans of a specific show, which limits even the prettiest piece's appeal. Original BL, which has a story in addition to art, can theoretically sell to anyone.

Yeah, poeple are willing to pay for story, I think. Note how including a wee bit of story of some sort in fanart increases its appeal. Original art doesn't sell unless you're a really well-known artist, but original stories do sell, once you put them in the buyers' hands.

There's probably somethign profound in that. Or maybe not. It's past midnight and I need to get the hell to bed since I've got, like, three meetings tomorrow.

Thats cause he's a douche bag. Funny how all the characters from that series and he's the one that annoys me in so many ways. Yet the thing that sucks about that is when I went to draw something from Bleach, HE was the one I drew. *grrr* And I semi ship IchigoxOrihime *grrrgrrr*. Still a douche bag though.
