Anyway, other things we did:
Went to the Enormous Half-Price Bookstore, where Rachel bought so many books that I actually have to ship them to her.
Ate at Love and War in Texas, a kitschy Texas restaurant that features food from the five cuisine areas of Texas.
Watched episode 1 of QI, the British quiz show hosted by Stephen Fry.
Watched episodes 1 and 2 of the first season of Doctor Who, thus neatly addicting Rachel to it.
Ate gourmet pizza.
Did the rounds of the dealers' room, where Rachel shook every last box that contained a Bleach figuring, in the hopes of being able to magically divine which ones contained Renji and which ones contained Rukia.

I'd cop one off of Gojyo instead. He's not my first choice of the Sanzo-ikkou, but Goku's just a kid, and Hakkai and Sanzo would kill me, whereas Gojyo would probably enjoy it and come back for more.

If I had been in her shoes, though, I would've just run right out of the room and never made eye contact with Gerg ever again O_O

* For those who are not fmailiar with this sort of thing, these are boxes that do not indicate what character is in it, so you have to buy them and hope you get the one you want. Which is why an open box where you can see the figurine is more expensive.

What kind of loot did you get (if any?)? I don't think I saw it mentioned anywhere.

If Rachel makes it to A-kon next year, I'll have to hook her up with one of the Renji keychains.

I was lucky last yr at Afest when I bought my Renji and Rukia dolls. I asked the guy that I was looking to buy the Renji one and if he knew which one might have had him in it. So he was shaking the boxes but he actually opened some of them for me. Since he went through that task of opening the boxes (since no one really does), I told him I'd also buy the Rukia one since he was so nice to do that.

*had to play it this year with the Star Ocean/Radiata Stories set* I got everything I wanted within four boxes, but a friend of mine ended up having to buy about ten before she FINALLY got what she wanted?

Chicken fried steak is like a first class ticket to my affections, and L&W makes a quite tasty one. I just wish that the bacon chunklets in the gravy were smaller.
