Bootlegs and kittyspam

I'd forgotten that three weeks ago I'd splurged on bootleg Saiyuki swag from eBay - it's (supposedly) a replica ring from what appears to be the only picture of Sanzo ever wearing it. The pic in the ad and package is an anime-style pic of him, not manga-style, in modern dress, and I expect the ring was added to echo the silver rings that his arm-things end in when he's in normal dress.

I'd figured it was a bootleg, and maybe not even related to Saiyuki at all, since it was cheap and I did a search online and found no references to it except for eBay auctions and a mention on someone's DA journal that they have a replica Sanzo ring. But I was in the mood and it was less than five bucks, so I bought it and promptly forgot about it.

And then it arrived today.

This is the pic from eBay:

The pic does not lie. You see that light texture on the picture of Sanzo? It's because they scanned in the picture from the calendar it originally was in - when I peeled it off the card it was taped to that framed it, I saw the numbers - and printed it out on a textured photo paper.

Sanzo is Mr. April, by the way.

But what that picture does not tell you is how solid and big this ring is. It's a guy's ring, basically, and fits my middle finger (the same one Sanzo's wearing it on). I could do some serious damage with this thing. Here's a pic to show you:

I've had it on for an hour or so and it hasn't turned my finger green yet. It was well worth $4.50 for the entertainment value alone.

And now for the kittyspam! I've been toning like mad, and the cat has been eying my chair. If I get up for even an instant, she leaps on it and takes it over, and turfing her off is pretty hard because the cat has sharp, pointy bits. I have taken to adopting Chair Defense Mode, which is scattering whatever objects are handy over the seat whenever I get up:

You can see the evil in her eye. "One day YOU WILL FORGET TO COVER THE CHAIR!! And then it will be MINE! ALL MINE!!" She hasn't yet figured out that she's big and strong enough to push the stuff off if she tries. :D

And when she's not stalking the chair, she's asleep and sending out the Feline Gravitational Rays that make your body jsut too heavy to get up and all you want to do is curl up and sleep...

Yes, her belly gets poked quite a lot. XD

"Weeeeee-OOoooooo. Mind Taker!"

I've developed a high degree of vulnerability to the Feline Gravitational Rays lately. That's why my house is still a mess even though my mom & sisters will be coming to see it (for the first time for my sisters) in less than a week. ^^;

And kitty-bellies exist for the purpose of poking and rubbing. That's why the fur there is sooooooooooooooo soft. :D

I was actually late to work a week or so back because she curled up at the end of the bed on my foot and started emitting the rays. I couldn't move. :D

my cat would still steal the chair anyway if it was just things like paper on it. She'd just sit right on top of them.

If I leave paper on a bed, or... basically anywhere, she usually sits directly on the paper rather than somewhere else.

Of course, if I sit on a chair she's sitting on too, she soon decides she doesn't enjoy sharing and jumps off. And then she usually jumps onto me and climbs onto my shoulder to kidnap it. I don't have much say in the matter.

Mine doesn't like being on an unstable surface, so if it looks like it'll slide, she won't go on top of it. It so far works to my advantage. :D

[identity profile] lanisatu.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
ah, sneaky :)

my cat is much more stubborn.

[identity profile] gweniveeve.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
My cat sits on paper too. He's especially fond of sitting directly on the book / paper I'm working on at that moment, so that I can pay attention to him instead of that.

[identity profile] lanisatu.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
I hate when they do that! Mine also likes to walk in front of the computer, across the desk. because, you know, the cat is much more interesting than whatever you were doing. Nevermind the fact that you might actually have some work to do >_

Mine walks on the computer too!

*lol*

if I do any painting or work with ink -- anything that involves cleaning a brush or calligraphy pen or so in water -- she drinks the water! She's crazy, this one. Doesn't want me to get any work done ;)

The reason that cats sit on paper is that they read through their stomachs.

Such a poinkable belly. ^____^

I love your kittyspam posts. They always make me smile.

[identity profile] selenite.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Our kitties don't like belly rubs. Which doesn't always stop me when they're posed like that. :)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
This is the first one I've had that likes 'em. The cat I had growing up was one of those that would lounge arund, belly-up, hoping that you would poke her so she could fasten around your hand like a leech and rip it to shreds.

[identity profile] selenite.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. That makes it a game of skill :)
