A empty file folder box! You see, my cat really prefers to sleep on cold, hard surfaces, and she has an old box-lid-type thing that she's slept on for a good six months or so. And it's starting to fall apart. So when I hit the supply closet at work to get file folders, I saw that the box was almost empty, grabbed the last of the folders and the box, which came home with me.

You can see the old box and where it's coming apart.

I think it's a success. She certainly seems to like it.

She's going to wear a bald patch under her chin if she always sleeps in there like that.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-04-27 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. She's changed position at least twice in the past fifteen minutes, so I doubt it'll be much of a problem. :D

Drat. Bald patches on cats are for drawing on.

Wow, that explains the bald spot on "not our cat." We couldn't figure it out.

My late cat Jones preferred those, too, but he had his box. He was rather miffed when his stepsister Ashley (the 30-pound monster I related to you who thought she was a dog) blew out all four sides the first time she got in and stretched.

Aw, poor cat. :D These boxes seem to have the characteristics mine wants - just about big enough for her to curl up in and press against all four sides, and low enough to rest her head on the edge. I had an Amazon box that was about twice as deep that she'd sleep in occasionally, but its sides were too high for her to be comportable in.

Rufus uses the blue office-sized recycle bin (it's a little smaller than the box lid and about three times as deep). He'll use it with or without paper in it, provided there's room for him on top. Fortunately, he's not one of those cats who likes to sleep in his litter box. ^_^;

:D The original box for mine had a piece of paper in the bottom, which she liked because when she got bored she could entertain herself by ripping little shreds of paper off the edge. I haven't put one in the new box because I got tired of the shreds. :)

She could be used to save mo6ney on offic3e equipment. Paper shredder.

m typing this while getting mauled buy Lotty my calico.

How does she shred paper? Teeth and claws, or claws only?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-04-28 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Primarily teeth. The preferred paper-shredding posture is to sit on a piece of paper, reach down, and pull little bits off with her teeth. If it's just too much effort to sit up, she'll condescend to lie next to the piece of paper, clasp it in her paws, and use her teeth to shred it that way.

I wonder what she'd think if you covered one in contact paper to make it more resilient and visually appealing?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2006-04-27 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Don't know. :D Might have to try it.

I see she's now switched back to the old box, but if I made it vanish, she'd probably never miss it. :D

Yep, that's a happy kitty. ^___^

My Bonnington used to love those too. It always amuses me that cats choose boxes just a little to small for them; it's like in their minds they're still svelte kitten ;)

Thanks for sharing the kitty-love.

I swear, your cat has the most "Mine place, biotch!" expression I've ever seen.

And yes, looks like the lid is a success. :D

[identity profile] llamameeljueves.livejournal.com 2006-04-28 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
So cute....My cat loves boxes (Which cat does not?)...but over everything...my cat loves two things: 1) Smelly shoes (I don't understand this one), and 2) Luggages or bags of any type. You leave any backpack or suitcase, and she jumps in (or over it).

Oh my gosh. Cuuuuute.
