Death Note news...

MangaNews.net reports that the Weekly Shonen Jump issue 8 (1/23) reports that there will be two live-action Death Note movies, one in June and one in October.

There's also an artbook coming out in May, but ... MOVIES.

Here's hoping they don't suck.

I also hear that there's a live action Saiyuki drama -- it was available to download raw from BT, but since I have dialup I wasn't able to get it since it was HUGE -- 1.1 gig or somesuch.

If it was the one I saw people talking about over on saiyuki_reload, it was just another version of the original story, and not a specifically Minekura-inspired one. :)

wow, wow. somehow i imagine that a live-action death note has the possibility of being a better moving-picture adaptation than an animated one would be--does that seem odd? oh, please let it have a budget. like, a nice big shiny one. and the yotsuba story arc. i love that arc.

Oh god, I saw that today, and just about wet myself. If it even comes close to approaching the sheer cracktastic joy that is the Prince of Tennis musicals, I'll be a happy, happy woman. Even if it's bad, it's going to be great. :-)

eh. that could go really wrong. I'm a little wary of live-action, and that's because of the GTO live-action which really just made me shudder.

The only live action based off of a manga that i've really liked is Kimi wa petto.
