As I stepped out from my front door on a May morning so bright, who should I chance to spy but a pensive young man a-walking down the lane. So I asked this young man, this pensive young man, of whom he should be thinking so that his expression should be writ large upon his countenance. This young man, he answered me, he spoke of the one who crossed his mind, who flirted with his fancy, who touched his thoughts...
He's thinking of you, dear reader. Yes, you. He's thinking of you.
Naked.
(sha gojyo from saiyuki, of course. mechanical pencil on printer paper, trying to practice a smooth line, getting driven crazy by that stupid hand which is still not right)

Dude, totally. Good penmanship rocks. But, wouldn't it be easier with pen? Since you can wary the line thickness just by pressing harder. How you manage to get anything like the beautiful subtle gradations here with a mechanical pencil is beyond me.
Absolutely gorgeous drawing. Gojyo's my favorite of the main Saiyuki characters- I like his PWETTY wind-blown hair here.

Mind you, it doesn't help that I'm using only so-so tools when I use pen. I really need to force myself to sit down and work exclusively with crowquill pens or some such.
