As I stepped out from my front door on a May morning so bright, who should I chance to spy but a pensive young man a-walking down the lane. So I asked this young man, this pensive young man, of whom he should be thinking so that his expression should be writ large upon his countenance. This young man, he answered me, he spoke of the one who crossed his mind, who flirted with his fancy, who touched his thoughts...
He's thinking of you, dear reader. Yes, you. He's thinking of you.
Naked.
(sha gojyo from saiyuki, of course. mechanical pencil on printer paper, trying to practice a smooth line, getting driven crazy by that stupid hand which is still not right)

(Actually, I think he's probably thinking of Hakkai naked, but I like your version better.)

I'm really trying to get the smooth line with subtle variation in line weight that I envy so much when other people have it, and I think I *finally* get near it - Gojyo's face and neck nailed it, although the rest of him ... didn't. Of course, I really need to get it with *pen* and not *pencil* ... but I'm thinking I might be able to fake it well enough with pencil and the proper application of Photoshop.
That weird paragraph is also the result of having a Boiled in Lead song stuck in my head, a modern arrangement of some sort of English folksong that starts off "As I rode out on a May mornin', on a May mornin'..." and then I can't remember any more of the words, so the paragraph really wants to be sung to that tune except that it utterly fails to match its rhyme or meter or to even be anywhere in the same vicinity. But going by the responses on DA and
And I still have that line stuck in my head. The CD's in my car; I'll have to listen to it on the way home to exorcise it.

I had "Streets of Laredo" going in my head when I read your paragraph, which cracked me up.

Good job!
:D
Anyway. I was expecting something serious until I got to the punchline, and well... Yeah. I nearly fell off my chair laughing. And then the picture loaded, and of course it's gorgeous like all of your other work.
Hm, I don't really have anything to say. Just, wow. I wish I had a smidgen of your talent.

Dude, totally. Good penmanship rocks. But, wouldn't it be easier with pen? Since you can wary the line thickness just by pressing harder. How you manage to get anything like the beautiful subtle gradations here with a mechanical pencil is beyond me.
Absolutely gorgeous drawing. Gojyo's my favorite of the main Saiyuki characters- I like his PWETTY wind-blown hair here.

Mind you, it doesn't help that I'm using only so-so tools when I use pen. I really need to force myself to sit down and work exclusively with crowquill pens or some such.
