I welcome you all...

... to a very special day.

THE RETURN OF KITTYSPAM!

1) The very first photo ever taken with the NEW CAMERA. Sorry it's not more exciting; the cat wasn't cooperating.

2) Ooooooooh, this fake sheepskin feels good between my toes!

3) The cat, being cute next to my small skeleton model thingy.

4) And a bit closer, so you can FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL the telepathic commands: Feed me. Feeeeeed me.

5) And to show you how much better this new camera is than my old one: this is the picture at the actual pixel magnification. It's a 6.1 megapixel camera, and will produce a picture approximately 10 x 7" at about 300 ppi, and if I felt the need to print out an 11x17" print of my cat, it would do so at 176 ppi, which is pretty decent.

What a pretty kitty! Damn, why do I have to be allergic to cats?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-12-30 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm mildly allergic, but it seems to be minimized with exposure. When I'm catless for an extended period of time, contact with a cat followed by touching my eyes without washing my hands (or sleeping on a pillow with some cat fur on it) makes my eyes red and itchy. But when I'm constantly exposed, my eyes don't itch.

KITTY! Cute cat, I love the "Bitch PLEASE." expressions cats can make so well, express so perfectly with a flick of a tail or ear.

Is this the D50 you were looking at?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-12-30 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. Posted with no correction to the images.

Huzzah!!! The return of the Original KittySpam!!! XD

Our new camera is only 4.0 megapixels, but that's good enough for me....it's a freaking digital. That's all I cared about. XD

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
My previous one was only 3.0, so this seems enormous to me. XD

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
lol, that's very true. That would make for a rather large jump. :D 'Course, my last was a friend's whose specs I couldn't tell you, so it's nice to finally have my own. (I'd say 'no matter what the specs are' but I've dealt with a digital that didn't even have a flash or a method of previewing your images, which more or less royally sucked, so I won't say that. XD)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing I have to get used to on this one is that it's an SLR (single-lens reflex, in case you didn't know), like a regular 35mm camera, so I have to look through the viewfinder to compose the picture, instead of at the screen. :D But I think the screen being on all the time was a major battery drain in my old camera, so I think this is probably all to the good.

[identity profile] pzb.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I would kill for an SLR digital (we have a really nice Canon EOS 3 35mm, but alas, good ol' film. It's great for taking really nice pictures...just no instant-gratification.)

Yeah, the screen is handy, but a real battery-killer indeed.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2005-12-31 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I deliberately went for the SLR because I owned the two lenses, and they were just going to waste. It had to be a Nikon, for the same reason. XD And then my grandparents gave me money for Christmas, and woo-hoo! Camera fund!

It's gonna make it a bit harder to take those pictures where I hold the camera up or off to the side to get a better angle or to get photos of people who keep ducking out of frame when they see a camera at someone's face, but I'll live. :D

LOL, yeah, that's actually one of the nice things about having the little point'n'shoot camera is I don't have to assemble the camera to get quick shots. Made getting Kittyspam and con pics a real pain in the ass....but they were nice pictures.... XD
