Engrish report: Saiyuki Reload Gunlock

This episode is from the manga, the one with the snow and the kids and ... yeah. I shall endeavor to remain spoiler-free so those who have not read the first Saiyuki Reload book will remain spoiler-free. You guys in the comments? Try to do the same, plzkthx.

However, those who have read the manga will be happy to note that the kids have eyeballs in this episode.

Goku: This is not a place to job!

They are consistently translating "youkai" as "monsters." At least at the beginning. After that they switch to "demon."

Youkai who's working the Wolverine look: General should we eat It taste great after adding wine this hot pot

Kid: Kiyun these guys are guests?
Goku: Backed potatoes?
Wolverine: It's Kiyun

(I assume that what happened there is that "kiyun" must sound something vaguely like "baked potato" in Japanese and Goku was thinking with his stomach again and misheard it. Mind you, in the manga his name is "Yakumo," and that's what people are saying, but it's translated as "Kiyun," thus rendering the baked-potato pun even less comprehensible, I suspect. :D But further confirmation will have to wait for one who speaks whatever flavor of Chinese it is. :)

Sanzo: What's here are just kinds.

Actually, it's "Yakumo" that sounds vaguely like "yaki-imo" (baked potato in Japanese.) Maybe "kiyun" means baked potato in Chinese? However it all went down, that's the best translation since "Flubdub and gulf!"

Totally off-topic PS: At what point does the Death Note arc about the businessmen with the [spoiler] end? I am at around # 39 or so, and am bored to almost to death by the businessman arc and considering skipping ahead. Unless there's some great Light/L interaction that I shouldn't miss.

Um. Have you hit the handcuffs yet? If so, exactly which point in the handcuff thing are you at?

The businessman arc lasts until 58 or so, and you definitely want to have read the buildup to that chapter. Just stick with it a bit and it'll pick up again before too long. My prediction is that they got a long-term contract at that point, and Ohba had to backpedal and expand the story out to the sides so it wouldn't stop right away, which stopped the forward progression dead for a while. But it picks up, and you get to see a (semi) heroic Matsuda, L and Light cosplay (you'll know it when you see it), and then an excellent expression on Light's face that's totally worth the buildup. XD

...Oh my God, Yakumo totally is rocking the Wolverine look! I completely failed to notice that. Woe! My geek license will be revoked!
